Art Journal Using a Template
Hello pad scrappers!!!I was inspired by the lovely goodies in today's SOSN to create an art journaling layout using a more traditional template. I love combining an artsy art journaling layout with a template that is more traditional and paper-inspired.For this, I combined a template from Strips & Stripes vol. 1 by Designed by Soco and Artsy Papers and Elements from Little Butterfly Wings' add-on to the Mixed Media Monthly from October 2020. I often include a selfie or an illustration representing myself on my art jouraling pages. For this page, I decided to use an illustrated element and placed it in a frame on the template.I used a solid paper for the background in the framed illustration and for the background on the layout.Next, I clipped patterned papers to each of the strips of paper on the template. Finally, I had fun placing … [Read more...]
Layered Art Journaling
Hey all my artsy friends! I'm just dropping in today with a quick peek at some of the awesome goodness available in today's SOSN sale and a nod to the soothing nature of art journaling. This genre of scrapping takes many forms, but my happy place is a page with lots of layered art journal elements and word art. I love it when I find a new way to convert a traditional template to an artsy look. Take a look at this page (created primarily with goodies from today's SOSN sale - click on layout for full credits): I used one of Fiddle-Dee-Dee's {Dressed Up} layered templates and piled on the art journaling elements and word art. Don't let anyone tell you that art journaling has to be all blended elements with little shadowing or depth. It can be whatever you want it to be - whatever takes you to your creative happy place! Be sure to let us … [Read more...]
Halloween Stories Album
Hello, friends!!I don't often experience FOMO (fear of missing out), but this year I have to admit that I have loved seeing my Instagram feed filled with October Daily albums and projects. I have loved it so much, that I decided to begin my own Halloween album.I'm not taking on an October Daily album, because I'm not quite that ambitious, but I am doing an album to combine our Halloween stories through the years. I found an empty 6x8 album to use that already had quite a bit of page protectors inside it, so that is the size I'm going with.Today I am sharing my cover page and the first spread and I hope to share a finished album with you near the end of this month!I created the cover page using A Little Witchy Stickers by Becca Bonneville. Her stickers are always so much fun to play with!! The scripted "Halloween" word was actually on one of the cards in the A Little … [Read more...]
Making Custom Titles in Photoshop
Hello all my artsy friends! I am dropping in on this Oh-So-Fabulous SOSN Wednesday with some peeks at some of the goodness on sale today and a quick tip for making custom titles and word art for your layouts. Have you ever created a page and had a specific title design or 3D word art in mind, only to find that the kit alpha (which is fabulous in its own right) just doesn't fit with your theme? The quickest way to create your own custom title or word art is to take your favorite font and add a digital style to it. Take a look at this page (made with goodness from today's SOSN sale): Notice the "Trust" word art on the page? That was made by applying a weathered wood style (similar to THIS ONE by Mommyish Designs) to one of my favorite title fonts (True North). You can also just clip digital papers to your words and add a slight bevel to … [Read more...]
