Hello my friends!!! I'm here to talk hybrid with you!! I'm sure you have seen the many hybrid projects floating around in our hybrid gallery. We sure are hoping that these marvelous creations have piqued your interest.....AND.....are fingers are crossed quite tightly, just hoping you will want to take a walk and ultimately a long journey down the hybrid road. The hybrid approach encompasses using your computer/device plus digital designs to turn them into actual physical items to be used in a physical layout that may also include more traditional scrapbooking or crafting supplies (think—scissors, glue, stamps, hand journaling, etc). Some would say hybrid is where the best of the digital world meets the best of the paper world. As you can tell from the gallery, the hybrid approach can be used in card making, scrapbooking, planning, journaling, and many craft and/or DIY type projects … [Read more...]
Hybrid Halloween: Digital Elements as Fun Decor
Hello and Happy (soon to be) Halloween!I love to craft and make fun decorations for my house. This is a simple and inexpensive activity that allows me to easily change things up each year.I found some great deals on wooden pumpkins, chalkboard graves, and tote bags, and just knew I had to create a few things. I found some awesome digital elements from our designer's Halloween collections here at The Lilypad and in no time I made a few fun items for the season's festivities and enjoyed a few hours of craft therapy!I used a variety of elements from the following kits for my projects:Kristin Aagard: October SilhouettesDesigned by Soco: Happy HauntingPaislee Press: Fall Magic No. 2 Stamps, Fall MagicAllison Pennington: Happy HauntingSahin Designs: Fright Alpha For the decor, I used wooden pumpkins that I painted white and chalkboard graves that I bought … [Read more...]
Thoughtful Thursday: Planning a November Hybrid Album
Hello! It is hard to believe that time is passing by so fast and soon it will be November! I don't know how this happens each year, but it does....time flies by and I always seem to feel like I want things to slow down and want to appreciate life more. As such, this is the time of year that I really long to do a monthly gratitude project and November is the perfect month for it. I've done this type of project several years now, and have always focused on what I'm grateful for, what makes me feel blessed, and the good things in life. I shared my 2020 project before: here, here, and here. This year I'm again drawn to embark on this project, but I've been feeling a desire to change it up just a little bit. Instead of an album focused on things I'm thankful for, I want to shift my lens and spend the month of November pausing and noticing, recognizing and acknowledging, breathing and … [Read more...]
Hybrid Decor: Wall Art
Hello! Today I'd like to share a simple and fun project for your autumn decorating - wall art! Using digital art and digital scrapbooking kits are perfect for creating new framed art for your seasonal decor. It also helps you stretch your supplies and I love doing these projects as I just enjoy getting creative. In less than a couple of hours you can have something new and lovely hanging on your walls to celebrate the season. For this project, I used Paislee Press' new wall art - Fall State of Mind, and a variety of autumn themed elements from Allison Pennington - Autumn Feelings, and Sahin Designs - Boo & Stuff and Fall is For to create my artwork.I wanted to add shimmer to my design, so I printed the word art on my laser printer and foiled it with deco foil and a Cricut Easy Press (a heat press machine - similar concept to a very large iron). I don't have a laminating … [Read more...]
Hybrid Layouts with Memory Pockets Monthly: Wicked
I love playing around with ink and stamps and that is one of the reasons I love hybrid scrapbooking. You can easily download your scrapbooking kits, play around with them on the computer and then print what you want to use. A little bit of cutting and gluing, and you have a quick layout that is easily personalized to your style, without making trip to the store or waiting several days for something to arrive in the mail! I love to mix my digital elements and papers with inks and stamping and my own handwriting, which can make the layouts feel more personable and hopefully one day, more nostalgic. This month I used the Memory Pocket's Monthly: Wicked kit to create a couple of traditional 12x12 layouts and a few pages in a blank journal. I loved the color palette, and was so excited when I noticed that it complimented several of my ink pads so nicely! I have a large stash of inks and … [Read more...]
Part 2 // Playing with Scissors, Paper & a Printer: Creating a Hybrid Scrapbook Album
A couple of weeks ago I shared the beginnings of my current hybrid scrapbooking project, Playing with Scissors, Paper & a Printer. This is a hybrid album that I am creating to document my hiking adventures. It is certainly a work in progress as my time is limited, but I sure love the process.Over the past week, I was able to create a few more pages to add to my album and I'd love to share them with you. These are from a recent backpacking trek on the Northiville-Placid Trail in upstate New York. This was a 3 night/4 day trek, in which I took over 800 photos! It is hard to cull them down and that seems to be the hardest part of my documenting. I pulled out a few favorites so I was able to get the 1st day/night scrapped for my album. At the beginning of my project I printed out a large amount of papers, embellishments and journal cards so that I could easily create new … [Read more...]
