Happy New Year! Polly Robin here to bring you a Make It Monday blog post. Today I’m going to show you how I create a hybrid card. I needed a birthday card for my daughter who LOVES birds so when I saw the kit Note to Self 4 by Gina Miller, I KNEW this would be perfect. Now I know a lot of people are afraid of hybrid, but it really is easy to make a personalized card and here is how I do that.First, I made a mockup in Photoshop. I know some people can just wing it, but I’m not one of them! I need to play with design and colors first before I print anything off since I don’t want to waste ink. This is the general design I came up with. Next, I created by print sheet by hiding the card design, creating rectangles that I filled with papers, and arranging the bird and title. This was for me to print off as I find it easier to print off only what I … [Read more...]
Adventures in Hybrid & Cut-files
After being purely a digital scrapper for so long, I've forgotten the unique issues that hybrid and real life paper crafting can create. And because I'm a documenter of processes, and always trying to refine things and learn from them, I'm sharing some of my adventures here too. These are some of the practical issues I've run into and my trouble shooting in learning to use the Silhouette Cameo 4. Some of the 'solutions' may be obvious but to me they weren't necessarily as some of this is quite new to me. And yes, this is set up like an interview but I talk to myself usually while crafting apparently so this is almost like a transcript of 'calm and logical' me giving advice to 'mildy annoyed to frustrated and ready to give up' me.(Disclaimer: I am aware that giving yourself advice in an area you are new to can be a bit like the blind leading the blind so some of this calm and logical … [Read more...]
Hybrid Scrapbooking: Making a Gardening Journal
Hello! It is spring time in my part of the world, and for me that means it is time to get outside and get in the dirt! I love to garden and spend much of my time in the spring and summer months outside planting, weeding, fighting off critters, and trying to get something edible growing. I certainly have a lot of challenges in the garden, but that never stops me from trying! I love to discover new plants and watch them grow. This is one of my favorite hobbies and this year I decided to create a gardening journal to document how the season progresses. Combining my love of hybrid scrapbooking with gardening is a wonderful project!Using digital scrapbooking supplies to create a customized journal is such a fun project that is easily completed in an afternoon. I simply find papers, journal cards and elements in my digi supplies, add them to a blank page in Photoshop, print the page out, … [Read more...]
Chocolate Gifts for Valentine
My loved ones deserve a little gift for Valentine's Day. Now I love crafting and they love chocolate. So I created giftbags and filled them with their favorite chocolate bars. I had so much fun with this hybrid project that I want to show you how I made these chocolate gifts for Valentine's Day. These giftbags are easy to make. All it takes is a bit of fussy cutting, gluing and lots of love. There are so many beautiful love themed products in the Lilypad Store right now it was hard to choose just one. In the end I decided to use Floral Steampunk Hearts Printable Papers No2 by A Whimsical Adventure and Lovey Dovey Bits and Lovey Dovey Paper Pack by Gina Miller. These kits are some of the new releases this Froggy Friday, so go check out the store. It might seem like an unusual combination, but the somewhat softened colors of the Lovey Dovey designs go really well with the … [Read more...]

Some would say hybrid is where the best of the digital world meets the best of the paper world. As you can tell from the gallery, the hybrid approach can be used in card making, scrapbooking, planning, journaling, and many craft and/or DIY type projects … [Read more...]
