Hi there, Polly Stefanie here with the third week's monthly muse challenge, you can find it in the forum, HERE.This week is hosted by Ona (wombat146).This week we are looking at the neutrals palette, the whites, blacks, beiges, creams and browns. But what exactly IS a neutral colour? In the first instance neutral colours are defined as hues that appear to be without colour and typically will not appear on the colour wheel. Neutral colours do not compete with primary and secondary colours and instead compliment them. The four neutral hues that are considered to be 'pure' (without any hue undertones) are black, white, brown and grey as they are created by mixing two complementary colors. All other neutrals are considered to be 'near' neutrals as they have a hue undertone. They are created by combining a pure primary colour with a pure neutral, the resulting tones colours … [Read more...]

Page Fixes: Let’s talk about Balance
I don't think it matters how long you've scrapped or who you are, there are times when you just aren't loving the page as it's coming together in front of you. It happens to everyone, right?! Here's an example of mine from this past weekend and let me talk you through my process of getting it to a place I am much happier with and share some things you can try if (or next time) you find yourself in the same spot, so you won't be tempted to bin your layout! Try these instead to fix and save your page!______________________________So we begin with me scrapping from a loose recipe, just 4 steps for a page for the Halloween Bash Costume Challenge. Now let me stress there is nothing wrong with the recipe (I love a recipe challenge and the other costume/recipe choices in that challenge were great too!). This post is more about identifying and fixing issues within a layout, while working … [Read more...]
SOSN for Challenges
Wednesday is one of my favorite days at The Lilypad. Why? Because I love a good deal and the Something Old Something New Sale offers lots of those. And I like it even more if I can find that one kit I need to complete one of the monthly challenges. I get so inspired going through the Old and New designs. So yes, it happens a lot that I start in search of one product and end up with something completely different. Today I want to show you what I found to create my layouts for the April Random Challenge and Style Challenge. Here's the link for today's SOSN sale. This is Just Jaimee's Wish - The Kit, a Storyteller April 2018 add-on. Those vibrant blues and yellow will work really well with the tree climbing picture I have in mind for the Style Challenge. I know vibrant colours can be a bit intimidating for some, but don't let that stop you. You don't have to use all of them at once. a … [Read more...]

Then I start going through my stash and I'm sure you can relate. . . I can't find the perfect elements or papers for the idea in my head. But no worries, it is SOSN Wednesday. Here are the products I chose for two of the March challenges. My first choice is Adventure Calls by Lynn Grieveson Designs. This is the kit I chose for this month's Random Challenge: "Go pick a themed kit and scrap something unrelated to that theme."
