Hello there, Polly Stefanie here with some layouts I found that all feature the same photo over multiple photo spots. This is not something I often do, but it can be very eye catching when done correctly.I used the same photo, just tweaked it slightly to better fit in the template, nudging my face up a little to be more visible. But look at these, all the same photo spread over a variety of different photos spots. And the wonderful effect that has.How would you get creative with this idea? … [Read more...]

St Patrick's Day is the 17th of March, do you celebrate it? and if so how?Traditional Irish BlessingMay the road rise to meet you,May the wind be always at your back.May the sun shine warm upon your face,The rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again,May God hold you in the palm of his hand.May God be with you and bless you;May you see your children’s children.May you be poor in misfortune,Rich in blessings,May you know nothing but happinessFrom this day forward.May the road rise to meet youMay the wind be always at your backMay the warm rays of sun fall upon your homeAnd may the hand of a friend always be near.May green be the grass you walk on,May blue be the skies above you,May pure be the joys that surround … [Read more...]
Thoughtful Thursday : joy through senses
Hello there, Polly Stefanie here to encourage you to document how your senses can ground you and spark joy.The 5 primary senses of: See (Eyes/Sight) Smell (Nose/Odor) Hear (Ears/Sound) Taste (Mouth/Flavour) Touch (Skin/Feel).We all have favourite smells, that spark happy memories. For me the smell of melting butter always reminds me of childhood growing up in Germany. Cigarette smoke reminds me of my Mom. Favourite fragrances, for me its frangipani. As a child I had some tactile defensive issues, there would be feels I liked and other feels I avoided. So I would wear cotton and linen, but avoid nylon and chiffon type feels. We all need to get a hug or cuddle a pet. What kinds of touch do you savour? My daughter enjoys a good hard hug, but a more gentle one with a side to side action is less pleasant for her. Have you ever thought of documenting and capturing … [Read more...]
Thoughtful Thursday: Template Challenge
Hello there, Polly Stefanie here to highlight the Template challenge. You can find it here in the forum, along with the freebie template supplied by Anita Designs this month. I love the versatility of templates, I usually add paper layers into the background layers of a more clean and simple template. I scoured the Pollywog gallery and found that three of us have created layouts with the selfsame template but ended up with very different takes on it.Layout by JennLayout by Me,layout by MarijkeEven though we all kept the same size and orientation of the original, you could re-size it, flip it, duplicate parts of it, remove parts of it. You could really change things up. … [Read more...]
Thoughtful Thursday November 16th, No titles.
Hello again, Polly Stefanie here with a few layouts I created from our cruise vacation earlier this year. Because these will form part of a photobook of our cruise I didn't think each layout needed a title. I tried to keep the design similar and made sure to add the date to each of them.Just a little reminder that sometimes the photos, journaling and a few elements to add a little sparkle or pop of dimension and texture is all you need. … [Read more...]
Thoughtful Thursday
Hello there, Polly Stefanie. Some times when I don't have mojo, or know what I feel like scrapbooking, I peruse the Lilypad galleries, take a gander at the challenges and then even check out the designer challenges. This week I played along, creating a few layouts with Fiddle Dee Dee Design's freebie templates Fiddlesticks 114, 115 & 116. You can find the templates HERE. For the first two I used word strips as the title, and for the third layout I used alphas and created a low contrast title. It really depends on how important you feel a title is. Back in the day I always had a title, photos, journaling and now I am less constricted by expectations. I create layouts for my memory keeping, to pair my photos and stories and I get to be creative with that and play with great designers' goodies. Which allows me to be present in the moment, to remember the good times we … [Read more...]
