Hello! April is here and with the change of the calendar, we have also changed our season. For me, this means spring has sprung and that makes me very happy! I find that my motivation really lags as winter progresses and with the change in the season, I enthusiastically welcome the longer days, warming weather, awakening of the earth, and I find I have much more mojo to be present in my life. I want to take more photos and tell more stories about my daily life, even if it is mundane. There is beauty to be found all around, especially in the details of life and the world, and I want to be creative. So I've created some spring related prompts to help you you document your life in photos and words. I hope you are able to be inspired, be present this spring and enjoy this season! … [Read more...]
SOSN for challenges
Hi all, guest polly Anja here and I want to spotlight a couple of SOSN products that I used for the monthly challenges. SOSN stands for Something Old Something New: each Wednesday the TLP designers offer a selection of old and new products on sale at half price. This link is for today's SOSN category. I love to join the monthly challenges. They always inspires me. As soon as I read the instructions my mind starts thinking about what I want to create. Then I start going through my stash and I'm sure you can relate. . . I can't find the perfect elements or papers for the idea in my head. But no worries, it is SOSN Wednesday. Here are the products I chose for two of the March challenges. My first choice is Adventure Calls by Lynn Grieveson Designs. This is the kit I chose for this month's Random Challenge: "Go pick a themed kit and scrap something unrelated to that theme." Thoughtful Thursday – when, where, who
Hello again, Stefanie here. Let's be honest sometimes we create a layout and the journaling flows and we tell the stories, all the details. Other times, we have fewer words, maybe we lack the motivation, maybe it's not our story to tell. Either way, it's ok to just have the Where, Who, Why, When and What or any combination of them. I went looking at the Polly gallery to find you some examples.Courtney (bestcee) gives a little insight into the details of the photo, what you may not glean just from looking. But still no deep emotions, a good synopsis style journaling.Karen got herself into the photo, love the wry smile and just the basics of who, when, why and what.Carol (Iowan) chose more of a magazine style, lovely large date and details.Kiana focusses on the what, the pandemic was a long difficult time, and each day blended into the next. So the what is actually very … [Read more...]
Thoughtful Thursday : So many words
Hello everyone. One of the very best things about scrapbooking to me is the pairing of photos and words. I know that some people struggle to write on their pages. I imagine that I am speaking over someone's shoulder about the photos they're looking at and then write down what I would have said. I find that when the kids look through the old albums, they linger over the stories. Also I use the opportunity to tell things from my perspective. I have perused the Pollywog gallery and want to highlight some word-rich layouts to inspire you. First up is ArmyGrl, She used the same photo twice, once as her background, making it black and white with a beautiful dreamy feeling, and then in colour as a detail shot. Then she layered some vellum to house her journaling. Adding a layer like this helps make the writing more legible. To add another pop of dimension and interest she added … [Read more...]
Thoughtful Thursday: Journaling Prompts!
Hello Friends! Journaling is often such a big part of memory keeping and a wonderful way to preserve our thoughts, feelings and memories. Telling our stories can be therapeutic and helpful for not only us, but others. However, sometimes knowing what to document can create a stumbling block if we aren't sure where to start. When this happens, journaling and story prompts are a great tool for brainstorming ideas and topics to explore. Today I'd like to share some story prompts that can be used right now and in the month's ahead. The seasons will soon be changing and often the seasons of our life change with calendar and weather changes. So this is the focus for today's journaling prompts..."season of change". Interpret them however you like - seasons of life, seasons of nature, seasons of the calendar, or a mix of all of these!Layout credits: Memory Pockets Monthly: Change and … [Read more...]
Thoughtful Thursday: Simple Journaling
There isn't much that makes me happier in scrapbooking than clean and simple pages that showcase a lovely photo and includes some thoughtful journaling complimenting the photo. But sometimes coming up with that"simple" journaling can be so challenging! For me, this often happens when I'm over thinking things, so I have to remind myself to keep it simple and reflect on what it is that makes me love the photo I'm scrapping, and what I want to tell others about that photo. One of my journaling go-to's when I'm in this mind block is to use a formula for simple journaling: repetition and short sentences. This is my formula for many of my layouts: I will start each line of my journaling with the same word or phrase. I will then add a few words after that phrase that conveys the message I want to share. I put each sentence on it's own line and incorporate the journaling into the … [Read more...]
