My loved ones deserve a little gift for Valentine’s Day. Now I love crafting and they love chocolate. So I created giftbags and filled them with their favorite chocolate bars. I had so much fun with this hybrid project that I want to show you how I made these chocolate gifts for Valentine’s Day. These giftbags are easy to make. All it takes is a bit of fussy cutting, gluing and lots of love.
There are so many beautiful love themed products in the Lilypad Store right now it was hard to choose just one. In the end I decided to use Floral Steampunk Hearts Printable Papers No2 by A Whimsical Adventure and Lovey Dovey Bits and Lovey Dovey Paper Pack by Gina Miller. These kits are some of the new releases this Froggy Friday, so go check out the store.
It might seem like an unusual combination, but the somewhat softened colors of the Lovey Dovey designs go really well with the Steampunk Hearts. Especially the reds and green. And they will coordinate nicely with the brown paper bags I am using as the basis for the giftbags. I love to stretch my stash like that and be adventurous with mixing and matching kits from different designers.
First I have to get everything ready for printing. To make sure I can print it all on our home printer I work in an A4 sized document. The printable Steampunk Hearts come in full Letter & A4 size, but I want them much smaller. Reducing the size to 45% makes it possible to fit all four Hearts on one sheet of paper. Then on to the Lovey Dovey elements. I choose hearts and labels mostly. After all it is Valentine’s Day. You can add text to your labels before printing or write on them later. Last step is picking some papers for packaging and decorating and the printer can get to work.
After printing comes cutting. I’m sure paper scrappers will recognize this. I find fussy cutting very relaxing especially while watching tv or binging series. The Floral Steampunk Hearts I didn’t cut but I tore them along the edges to add to the vintage look. Before I glue everything down I try several compositions. Adding some embroidery thread, crumpling the brown paper bags and matting the cards or not…there are so many options. When the giftbags are ready it is time to wrap the chocolate bars in Lovey Dovey papers and decorate them with a label and heart element.
Don’t they look gorgeous? On Valentines Day I plan to lay the breakfast table before everyone is awake and put the giftbags on their plates as a surprise. They’re going to love it.
I’m so happy with how these giftbags turned out. And they were really easy to make. You could also decorate them with journal cards or photos. And as brown paper bags come in all sizes, you could put any kind of gift in them. A giftcard, some candy or even a book. So, will you be crafting for Valentine’s Day? Let me know in the comments.
