Happy New Year! Polly Robin here to bring you a Make It Monday blog post. Today I’m going to show you how I create a hybrid card. I needed a birthday card for my daughter who LOVES birds so when I saw the kit Note to Self 4 by Gina Miller, I KNEW this would be perfect. Now I know a lot of people are afraid of hybrid, but it really is easy to make a personalized card and here is how I do that.
First, I made a mockup in Photoshop. I know some people can just wing it, but I’m not one of them! I need to play with design and colors first before I print anything off since I don’t want to waste ink. This is the general design I came up with.
Next, I created by print sheet by hiding the card design, creating rectangles that I filled with papers, and arranging the bird and title. This was for me to print off as I find it easier to print off only what I need:
Once all that is done, I went up to my craft room and cut everything out. I used an embossing folder on my card base for added interest and then glued all the paper strips and elements to the card. Mine turned out like this:
So, it’s not EXACTLY like my mockup in Photoshop, but that was just a guide for me so I’m fine with that.
Hope this shows you that it’s really not hard to make a card! Thanks for taking the time to follow along with me and see you next time 😊
