I don't know about you, but sometimes I struggle with pictures for my Project Life album. Either I haven't taken enough pictures, or I end up taking the same pictures over and over again. I often find, when documenting my everyday life weekly, it's hard to find variety in the pictures I have to represent the week. Last year, as the weeks progressed, I found that I had to start coming up with some creative ideas for pictures of our everyday life. I've included all kinds of things on my pages. Sometimes I take pictures of everyday items, like our grill. Other times I take pictures of a work in progress, like my lesson planning or working on a Project Life spread. I've even taken pictures in our bathroom, including a picture of our toilet to document one nasty stomach bug. Creative ideas, pictures of things that are part of your everyday, and creative approaches can help save your … [Read more...]

Simply Hybrid: Journaling Cards
Hi, everyone! Sarah here with another installment of Simply Hybrid. This month I'm going to show you a few different steps I added to a journaling card for one of my Snap! Album pages. This page is about getting stuff done and the little window of optimism I have every morning. Real Life in Pockets: Domesticated by Just Jaimee and Mommyish was the perfect kit for capturing this part of my every day.For this first card I just used the card as is and added my journaling on the computer. I find that when I have a lot to say I can fit more in by using a font. I love that I have this Heather Joyce font of my handwriting.Next I just added a couple of arrows, the red stamped one I added digitally, the yellow one I printed, cut out and added to the card after it was printed. For this one I added a couple of banners to the top right corner. The orange one I used as … [Read more...]
Snacks and Scraps: Healthy Munchies to Enjoy While You’re Creating
Hi Happy Scrappers!Polly Liana here, with some tips for smart scrap snacking (say THAT five times fast!). If you're anything like me, it's nice to have something to nibble while you're creating. Problem is, if you've got the wrong food at your fingertips, you're liable to finish off a bag full of potato chips faster that you can finish a speed scrap! You may have encountered that guilty feeling of realizing that you've just polished off a huge amount of unhealthy snacks while scrapping, because you're thinking more about what you're creating than what you're eating. Here are my four tips for making better choices about snack foods while scrapping:1. Make it HealthyThis is kind of a no-brainer. If you reach for carrot or celery sticks or slices of cucumber, you satisfy the need for chewing on something but you're putting healthy vitamins and minimal calories into your body. … [Read more...]
Preparing to Capture Your Disney Vacation: Prep What You Can
So, here I am, less than two weeks from my next Disney vacation. Today I wanted to share the final installment in my Preparing to Capture Your Disney Vacation series. In the first post, we talked about choosing the right tools. After that, we talked about planning your approach and then about gathering your supplies. The last step in preparing to capture your Disney vacation is to prep what you can.In everyday life, we do this all the time. You pick out and iron your clothes on Sunday for the week. Maybe you pack lunches the night before they need to get onto the school bus. For a dinner party, you may make the salad and dessert before hand. We take advantage of the time we have to get things ready so we won't feel so rushed in the moment. I try to take this idea and apply to my special albums. What can I do now that will make putting the album together easier? Set up a … [Read more...]
Making Time for Scrapping
Sometimes, the thing I find the most difficult about getting some scrapping done is finding the time to do it. Between my full time job as an Assistant Principal and my family, I don't always have a lot of spare time hanging around to put together a page or two. I often get asked, “How to you find time to do it all, and still scrap?” The truth of the matter is, for a long time, I didn’t. I worked to maintain my “out of the computer” life. I all but gave up scrapping altogether. I would often think to myself, I just don’t have the time. So for almost a year, I have absolutely NO layouts of anything. None of the memories I have of my family are preserved. Isn’t that why most of us scrap?Around this time, I had a conversation about the idea of “it’s not a priority.” When I was busy saying, “I have no time”, I was really saying, “It’s not a priority right now.” If something was important … [Read more...]
Pocket Scrapping Art Journaling: Using Lists
Hi, all. Sarah, here. I have a brand new pocket scrapping art journaling challenge in the forums today. This time we're going to add a list to our pocket scrapping projects. I just posted a tutorial in the We Are Storytellers forum about scrapping with lists, so I thought it would be fun to use that as the current challenge. I'm a huge fan of using lists in my scrapbooking projects, and I thought I'd share a few examples of how lists can be used for pocket scrapping projects. First up is a page I created about how my day goes by too fast. For this page I used enamel dots as bullet points for my list.Aaron created this page where he lists the things that makes him happy. I love that he included a happy smiling picture of himself to highlight his happy thoughts.Next is a page I did for my daughter's album. I love these little media cards, … [Read more...]
