Loooooks Yummy! Tips for Photographing Food
Hey Hey Hey Happy Scrappers!Polly Liana here, with a few tips for photographing one of my favorite things: FOOD! We've all been there… you spend hours leaning over a hot stove, cooking dicing, mashing, stirring and finally, voila! Your masterpiece is complete! But (providing your cooking skills are decent) all your hard work is gone within a matter of minutes. Wouldn't it be great to capture it like a photo in a magazine so you can drool over it (and scrap with it) long after the last bit is consumed? Well, you can! Here are a few tips to help you immortalize those morsels.1. Use natural sunlightI've said it over and over again but it's worth repeating: natural sunlight is the most flattering light you can give your food subjects. Often, your kitchen lights will cast a very unflattering yellow tone on your food, which can make it look unnatural and unappetizing. When your … [Read more...]
Social Media for the Social Media Weary
In this day and age it’s pretty common to be connected to some form of social media…Blogs, Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, LinkedIn...social media sites are everywhere. As shocking as it may be to some of us social media addicts, not everyone is a fan. Through my years on various sites, I’ve found that some people just are unsure how to navigate the world of social media and keep things they hold dear (like children) safe, private and protected. So today I am going to share with you four quick and easy little things I’ve picked up along the way that go a tad beyond your basic privacy settings. I am in no way an expert on Social Media, just your average tech lovin social junkie :)1. Use nicknames! Just like we have user names in the gallery and forums here, most social media sites give you an option to pick a user name. With a very few exceptions, you don’t have to use your … [Read more...]
Loom Craze
Hello everyone!! Let's see check out the latest craze!! It's the Loom Craze that is everywhere in the internet. I am totally crazy over things which are colorful and trendy. And the Rainbow Looms caught my attention a month ago. The Rainbow Loom is a plastic pegboard measuring 2 inches (51 mm) by 8 inches (200 mm).It has push pin-type pegs over which small, colored rubber bands are looped and pulled by a rainbow loom crochet hook. The resulting looped knots, known as Brunnian links, can be assembled on the loom into bracelets and other shapes. The Rainbow Loom kit includes a pegboard, a rainbow loom hook, 24 special C-shaped clips, and 600 small rubber bands in assorted colors. This is the Bracelet Loom Deluxe Kit I remember when I was a child, I would save up extra money to buy those normal rubber bands and made them in to skipping ropes. So I was really at awe when I saw that those … [Read more...]

Today we will discuss ways to prepare you and your children for the first day of school.1. Bedtime RoutineIt's been a few months of late nights for the kids. A few weeks before the start of school, begin a more rigid bedtime routine to help prepare the kids for early mornings. It really does help for them to be on a schedule.2.
