Hello there, Polly Stefanie here highlighting Angela's art Journaling challenge for this final week of February. You can find it in the Lilypad forum, HERE.Each week we are exploring different colour schemes, and this week our scheme is Monochromatic. What is a Monochromatic (or Monotone for short) colour scheme?Basically Monotone is defined as only using only one colour (or hue as we call it in colour theory). The monochromatic scale is created by adding black to get a darker colour (the tone) or adding white to get a lighter colour (the tint)In digital scrapbooking the best way to visualise this is to look at the colour dialogue. The colour in my colour picker is my main colour. Have the colour view option set to HSL mode. Then look at the L slider - by moving that left or right we get the tones and tints for our monochromatic colour pallet.Using MonotoneHere are 3 … [Read more...]

Make It Monday Thank You Card
Welcome to another Make It Monday blog post. Polly Robin here with another card and I’ll show you how I made it!I needed some thank you cards and knew I wanted to work with a new die cut that I received. I needed five papers that went well together so I shopped my stash and found this Treasured kit by ninigoesdigi:The great thing about using digital kits from The Lilypad for hybrid projects is that the designers have done all the hard work for me. I knew that any 5 papers I picked would look good together so all I had to do was pick the ones I liked the most, and these are the ones I decided to use:Next, I do what I always do and used the Print function to save my papers as a PDF. I had to do this twice to get all that I needed, but here’s an example of my first selection I wanted to print:After my printing was done, I pulled out this die that I was given … [Read more...]

Art Muse Challenge Highlight : Week 3 Neutrals
Hi there, Polly Stefanie here with the third week's monthly muse challenge, you can find it in the forum, HERE.This week is hosted by Ona (wombat146).This week we are looking at the neutrals palette, the whites, blacks, beiges, creams and browns. But what exactly IS a neutral colour? In the first instance neutral colours are defined as hues that appear to be without colour and typically will not appear on the colour wheel. Neutral colours do not compete with primary and secondary colours and instead compliment them. The four neutral hues that are considered to be 'pure' (without any hue undertones) are black, white, brown and grey as they are created by mixing two complementary colors. All other neutrals are considered to be 'near' neutrals as they have a hue undertone. They are created by combining a pure primary colour with a pure neutral, the resulting tones colours … [Read more...]
Minimal & Maximal Monday: Same photos, 2 different layouts with Template Tips
Hello! Following on from discussing design styles for Beginners in my last post, I gave myself an informal challenge to produce 2 different style layouts using the same photos and same products, and seeing it's Monday and I like alliteration, well, here we are.Starting with a template my mindset was to make a minimal style page and then switch things up to make it more maximal, and because I mentioned that Artsy and Mixed media can work with either of those styles in that previous post, I purposely picked a kit with some artsy pieces and papers in it and a template that is simple enough that I could art-ify.Scrappers often gravitate to one particular style but there 's also a lot of scrappers that jump between styles as they feel and I'm one of those people. Maybe it's the kit, maybe it's the photos, maybe it's a challenge but something will pull me in one style direction and I … [Read more...]
