Travel Journals: Part Three
Okay... so I was a little overly ambitious when I said I would be back today with a finished travel journal. But today is my last day of my Guest Polly spot and I was really hoping to have a finished book ready to show you before it ended. I did get several pages done and I'm excited to show them to you. I truly enjoy putting these albums together and they go super fast once I get started. I do have to remind myself of their purpose for me though so I don't go down too many rabbit holes along the way. These journals serve the purpose of laying out the outline of our trip and a place to keep all of the brochures/maps/etc. that I will refer to later when putting together my scrapped albums. It's not unusual for me to go through my journal page by page as I scrap the trip. So not only is it a project itself, but it is a tool that helps with future projects.First I have my … [Read more...]

Do You Start Over?
Last week, I shared with all of you how I was prepping for DYD. I had already started working on some foundation pages, I even shared them on the title card for my blog post. Following that post, though...my creativity seemed to hit a wall. Whenever I tried to work on the pages, I felt myself staring blankly at the screen. I didn't know what to do next.In an attempt to jump-start my creativity, I browsed the gallery for DYD. There is so much goodness in the gallery! I started to feel my creativity creep back, but as I looked more, I started to question if the problem that I was having was that the style I was trying wasn't working for me. A question came to mind...should I scrap everything I have and start over?I struggled with this question for a while. I even posted in the forums about it. Should I start over? In the end, I decided to scrap what I had and start over. This … [Read more...]
Using Template Die Cuts for Hybrid
Hi there pad friends!! It's Katrina, aka katrinahunt13 to share a layout using a digital template, but also making part of it into a cut file. It takes a little practice, but if you do hybrid or are thinking about it, it's quite the fun thing to do. Plus it expands what you can do with your digital supplies.First of all my layout! As soon as I saw this collection of templates, I knew I wanted to do hybrid layouts with them. This is the Big Words Dressed Up by Fiddle-Dee-Dee Designs and I loved the big picture in this one. And I used Just Jaimee's December Storyteller Kit|Journal Cards for my "supplies".NOTE: I have a wide format printer, but all of this will work if you size your template down to 8x8 and go from there with your pictures and your die cut.I started by opening the template in Photoshop and clipping my pictures onto the photo layers. I then moved those … [Read more...]
Travel Journals: Part Two
We're back from our whirlwind trip to Paris and London! And although I'm still jet lagged and fighting desperately to stay awake, all of my ephemera from our trip is organized and ready to go into my travel journal later this week! I can't wait to get started on putting it all together. As I said in my last post, my expanding file is the key item for keeping organized while on the trip. The photo below was taken at the end of our trip and you can see how stuffed full it is...Here's a better view of how much stuff we collected....My family became well trained on collecting paper bits as we progressed through our trip. They got to where they handed me every bit of paper they came in contact with! Since it was cold, I was wearing a coat with big pockets. I ended up designating my left pocket as the "paper pocket", adding tickets and other small paper pieces to … [Read more...]
