A Thankful Mind
We a celebrating Thanksgiving today here in the States, so I just wanted to drop in and wish everyone a happy, healthy and grateful day! Even if it is not Thanksgiving in your area, you can still celebrate with us by taking a few moments to focus on what you are grateful for in your life. Gratitude is a strong emotion that can bring positive effects to your life, and is a practice with which we can probably all use a little more practice. I recently made a layout that memorializes my favorite Thanksgiving traditions. Just thinking about our holiday festivities brought a smile to my face. :) If you want to see all of the Thanksgiving themed kits in the Lilypad Store, you can easily find them under the Shop by Holiday drop down menu on the left hand side of the store front. These kits are perfect for scrapping your holiday memories, but they are … [Read more...]
Prepping to Document Your December
I can hardly believe that it's already time to start thinking about Document Your December. I would swear that I *just* finished MOC '17!! Alas, we are rounding the corner to the end of November, and it's time to get ready to capture all of those December holiday memories. If you haven't heard of DYD before, it's a style of scrapping in which people capture moments throughout their December. Here at TLP, our designers are so awesome that the always create a huge assortment of coordinating products for this project, and we have a pretty active DYD section of the forums here.I actually have not done DYD the last few years. As I stepped away from "Project Life" style scrapping, DYD wasn't able to hold my interest any longer. Once I saw all the awesome products that the designers released this year, I was inspired to give this project a try again. Since deciding to do it, I have been … [Read more...]
Tips For Using M3 Kits
Each month a new Mixed Media Monthly kit is released with cohesive colors and a theme. This is what catches my eye initially, then I open the folders and see what's inside. Here is the November M3 main kit (there are always some add-on products too). Let me share some of the ways I use the M3 kits.So what catches my eye initially is the heart, star, scrabble tile with star and the flower. Next I spotted the word art strip with "entertainer" on it. The circus theme is fun, has uses other than a circus theme but right off the bat, I am thinking about that word "entertainer". It reminds me of my little labradoodle, Taz. He is definitely an entertainer. Tip #1 is to take a glance at the kit in its entirety but then isolate the products, looking for 1-2 products that you might want to use.I then look at word art, thinking of how I might use it. Then I isolate the word art, looking … [Read more...]
Tips for Family Portraits
For my birthday I begged all my kids for a family photo session. This was a bit challenging with 3 adult kids, a son in law and 2 grand babies in the mix - did they turn out perfect? No - I would have done a few things differently (like not putting 2 plaid shirt kids side by side!), but hey - they are done right? And I was happy with the results and that's what really matters. Everyone has their own challenges with photos, but here are a few tips about either taking someone's family pictures or having your own made.-Pick a color scheme-don't match - but coordinate-split the colors up-lay the clothes out on the floor for an idea where people should be placed-look at Pinterest boards for inspiration - this is one of my … [Read more...]
Flip for November M3!
Greetings, Pad Scrappers!Polly Liana here and SO excited to share our newest M3 collection with you. For those of you new to the concept, M3 stands for Mixed Media Monthly. Every month around the 20th, four of our mixed media designers release a collection of products that have been created using the same palette and focused on three central concepts. November's M3 words are CIRCUS/JUGGLE/PERFORMING. The palette is a great combination of bright purple, green, mustard & red and it's anchored by some kraft. It was designed by Paula Kesselring, Lynne-Marie, Little Butterfly Wings and Dawn Inskip. Feast your eyes on the main kit:Once the main kit is created, each designer can create add-ons that share the same palette and theme but allow each designer to pursue individual interests like paint, alphas and word art. Together, these add-on kits really enhance and … [Read more...]
