Hello everyone and happy spring! It’s Polly Karen here. I’m here with a look at the new batch of monthly challenges. This year we added one more challenge each month to give you more opportunities for creating pages! Now instead of 7 monthly challenges, we’ve added an eighth challenge. You do not have to complete all 8 challenges in order to have a change to win a guest spot on the creative team either, we added another one for those who have requested more challenges and you still only have to complete 7 of them to be considered for a guest spot on the creative team! You can choose one to skip if you want! So, mostly everything remains the same. You complete challenges in order to earn a coupon of your next purchase in the store (2 challenges = 10%, 4 challenges = 20% and 6 challenges = 30%) AND everyone who completes at least 7 challenges will be considered for a one month guest spot on the creative team (The Pollys). So let’s take a look at this month’s new batch of challenges!
1. Inspiration Challenge – July’s Inspiration Challenge is being hosted by Jenn (jk703) and she has a super fun challenge in store for you. She wants you to scrap a photo with extra thought put into the perspective of that photo. She has some great samples in the forum too. Here’s a fun layout Jenn created for this challenge:
2. Journaling Challenge – Lori (lcpereyra) is hosting this month’s Journaling Challenge. Lori wants you to create a layout and journal about some by interviewing them. What a great way to capture the personality of someone! Lori created this fabulous interview style layout based on this challenge:
3. Style Challenge – Heather (talktoheather) is host of July’s Style Challenge and she has chosen a style that she rocks consistently… the true white space page with NO background paper, just plain white. Here is a perfect example of the white background style layout by Heather:
4. Photography Challenge – This month’s Photography Challenge is hosted by Julie (mrs2@50) and for July, she wants you to focus on the processing of your photo(s). Julie has a great example of how much impact photo processing can have on your photo and finished layout in the forum. Also be sure to check out the Summer School series in the forum where there will be a four week series on using Lightroom to process your photos. Here is Julie’s finished layout:
5. Random Challenge – Heather (HeatherB) is hosting July’s Random Challenge and is challenging you to create a layout based on numbers in your life. Heather chose to make a cool layout about her church attempting to break a Guinness World Record for the largest potluck picnic:
6. BYOC Challenge – This month’s BYOC Challenge is hosted by Ashley (ashleywb). The challenge is to use 90% of the products on your page from the current BYOC collection and from at least 3 designers. Here is a great sample layout created by Ashley:
7. Template Challenge – June’s template challenge is hosted by Amanda (MandaKay) and the free template has been provided by the generous Mirjam of Pink Reptile Designs. All you have to do to play along is download the free template and complete a layout using it. Here’s a look at the template followed by a layout created by Amanda:
8. Scraplift Challenge – The Scraplift Challenge for June is hosted by Renee (renee82) and she is challenging you to scraplift a page from Courtney’s (bestcee’s) gallery. Simply pick a layout that inspires you and create a new page based on that layout. Here is a layout from Courtney’s gallery followed by Renee’s scraplifted version:
Challenge Galleries: (post your pages to these galleries)
Another month and another 8 great new challenges to keep you busy scrapping. Once you create your own layouts inspired by these challenges, be sure to post them to the appropriate galleries as listed above. Then be sure to also post them to the appropriate thread in the challenge forum. See the thread HERE for further challenge guidelines and see the July Challenge Pad HERE to get started! Don’t forget to post all of your completed layouts in the Challenge Layouts thread so we can be sure to get you the proper coupon at the end of the month. I’ll be back near the end of the month to shine the spotlight on some of the pages created for these challenges! I can’t wait to see what you come up with! Happy scrapping!
