Hey there! It's Katrina, aka katrinahunt13, hanging with you on the blog today. And I have a fun tip for all you hybrid (or want to be, you know you want to!) scrapbookers. We all love to customize things and my post is about customizing your own grid paper! As soon as I saw this kit by Scrapping with Liz in the store, I KNEW I exactly what I wanted to do with it. There are SO many possibilities with this for hybrid scrappers, it's crazy! The Planner Grids kit can be found HERE in the store. At first glance this kit looked like it was for all the planner people, which it's great for them! BUT I love a good grid paper to traditional scrapbook with, but currently that type of paper is hard to find. But now, I can create my own AND in whatever color I want! And I am going to show you how.I used the dots grid for my tutorial today. I love some good polka dot paper! Open … [Read more...]
1-Sheet Mother’s Day Trifold Box Card
As a Guest Pollywog this month, I have a confession to make. I’m a hoarder. I hoard all things scrappy, both paper and digital, yet I almost never make cards. So, when the opportunity arose for me to share a blog project with our wonderful community, I knew that I had to challenge myself to create a hybrid Mother’s Day card that incorporated items from my stash and kits from our awesome designers here at The Lilypad. The card I decided to make has a base that uses only a single sheet of 12x12 cardstock, which is folded and scored to create an impressive trifold, flip-out card in just a few simple steps. What you add to it to create your own gorgeous creation is limited only by your imagination. Let’s get started!STEP 1: Trim .25” off the right side of a 12x12 sheet of cardstock.STEP 2: Without changing the orientation of your paper, create vertical score lines at … [Read more...]
Moving From Traditional to Hybrid
It's the hybrid girl, aka Katrina aka kathunt13 here and I am going to talk about moving from traditional scrapbooking to hybrid scrapbooking. I don't think I will ever go all the way to digital, I just like to play with "stuff" too much! LOL And let's face it, sometimes Photoshop can stress me out! And working on a computer all day at work makes me want to take a break and get away from screen time.Recently we decided that I need to get my scrapping/crafting out of the living room and into it's own space. Yay me!! Our house isn't big, so this is amazing that i get to do this. I knew if I was going to do a table it needed to include storage. Just for the simple reason that I was going to lose how I was storing (or not storing) my supplies for a table. I googled, pinterested, and browsed Ikea's website. I found some table ideas, with storage underneath and proceeded from … [Read more...]
Hybrid Shaker Card
Hey there, it's Katrina sharing a hybrid shaker card with you today. This is a fun way to put some "wow" into your cards. It does take a little work and practice, but it's a good way to put those traditional supplies that you may still have (or want to shop for!) to good use!I used a collab kit from Little Butterfly Wings/Studio Basic for my card. It's the Carpe Diem bundle and I am IN LOVE with this collection! I have already done this card, plus another hybrid layout with it!I am going to take you thru a few of the steps of making this. First you need to cut out a shape on your card front/base. I attached my pattern paper and then cut out the opening with some metal dies and a manual die cutting machine. You could also do this with your electronic machine, but I was just playing around and experimenting!Next, you need to cover your opening with a piece of … [Read more...]
Using Cut Outs As A Mask For Hybrid
Hey there! Katrina, aka katrinahunt13, sharing another hybrid layout with you. I am going to show you how you can use cut outs that you see in the shop for getting artsy on a hybrid layout. Now, I am the first to admit, I love "stuff" on my pages, but I don't go toward the artsy side. After doing this layout, I think I may try it more!I dove into the BYOC for February for this layout. I used the following kits: Hedge Hugs | Bella Gypsy Happy Hearts | Becca Bonneville Olive You Paper, Elements | Allison Pennington and finally Love Cut Outs | Scrapping With Liz. I started by cutting out the LOVE file from my Cameo. After doing this, I realized that I am not limited by "what size the mask or stencil is that I bought" and I can make these any size I want!! How fun is that! I figured out where I wanted the cut out on my page and then used some removable tape to … [Read more...]
Hybrid Cards 3 Ways Using 12×12 Digital Templates
Hey there Lilypad fans! It's Katrina, aka katrinahunt13, sharing a way to get a jump on getting those thank you cards done after the holidays. I know from experience that if I don't get those thank you cards out pretty quickly, then I don't get them sent. I made these quickly in a night, which included coming up with what I was going to do, what papers, to use, etc. I also wanted to make sure that these were something that you could do easily with a regular printer only. No print and cut on the Silhouette Cameo for these! These would be GREAT for the kiddos home on break to make after you printed the elements out!So what's easier than using a template to start a page, right? Well the right template can also be used to create cards! I used Fiddle-Dee-Dee Designs Meet Me In The Middle (Dressed Up). This one is perfect for a square card, which is my favorite shape!I hid … [Read more...]
