Personalizing Dishtowels
Good Morning Lovely Scrappers,Polly Liana here with a quick tutorial about personalizing dishtowels. I have a dear friend who, because of a large family and lots of action in her kitchen, has considerable distress about cross-contamination of her dishtowels. Her kids use both towels to wipe their hands and dry the dishes and it makes her a little crazy. So she asked me if I would make her a simple set of towels with visuals that would help inform the user about which towel was which. I love any chance to create personalized anything for my friends so I jumped at the idea. Thought I'd take you along on the ride, too! Here we go...First, I purchased a set of white flour sack dishtowels from Target. They come in sets of four and I like them because they don't leave any fuzz on my dishes, they dry quickly and they are cotton so they can take a beating. In this case, they're also … [Read more...]
Pocket Scrapping: Capturing the Teen Years
Hi all, Sarah here. I'm excited to share an album I've been working on for the past few months. I keep hoping that my daughter will fall in love with the process of memory keeping as much as I have. Unfortunately that hasn't happened yet, so I've decided to do my best to document a few of the moments of her teenage years for her (at least until she decides that memory keeping is something that she would like to pursue).I decided to keep this album small so I went with a 6"x8" Snap Album with pocket pages. I started my cover page with a introduction card about capturing her 13th year and a card talking about the low key way we spent her 13th birthday (the celebration would come in the form of a road trip to St. Louis the next day and a family celebration later that weekend). All images are linked to my gallery for full credits. It's sometimes hard to get my teenager to pose … [Read more...]
Mobile Highlights!
Welcome to the first mobile highlights of the year! Can you believe that January is nearly gone already? So, lets start with this lovely layout by @lbvancura! She uses a brushed technique to create a mask for an image behind the lovely template from Paislee Press for our MOC3 Day 21 challenge. The Starburst draws the eye in beautifully.Next up we have this super fun layout from @brandisutherlin! I love how her pup's fur colours are reflected in the paper colours, and the way the blue ties is all in together. Great use of the free templates from Just Jaimee and Heather Joyce from MOC3 Day 9 challenge, too.Now let's take a look at this geometric masterpiece from @beszteri! The out of bounds technique from MOC3 Day 8 challenge is put to work perfectly with the great triangular frame and amazing composition of this layout. Now for a clean and simple gem from @toriloowho - such a … [Read more...]
Simply Hybrid: Layout
Hi all, Sarah here with another installment of Simply Hybrid. Today I'll be sharing some layouts that I created. Any of these layouts could be considered complete, but I love that by adding an element or two in each step, I've added a little bit of interest to each layout. For this project I chose to use Rebel by Allison Pennington and Just Jaimee. For this first layout, I kept it super simple. I chose this awesome background paper because I love the texture and let that and my photo do most of the talking. I matted my photo with the the purple solid paper and added a label with a digital stamp from the kit. The finishing touches were to add a simple line of journaling under the photo and date the bottom left corner with a standard office date stamp. For then next layout I added a second picture..this one focusing in on the back of my daughter's hair. I also … [Read more...]
All Different. All The Same.
We are right in the middle of MOC at The Lilypad and the Gallery is hopping. I am so enjoyed all of the inspiration I have found there this month, and every month. And it really got me thinking about how very different we all choose to scrap the same type of events... so different, and yet somehow the same. Our individuality in our scrapping, as in our lives, is what makes us who we are and I am always interested to see how others think about similar things. Let me show you...In the United States, our football season is wrapping up. The Super Bowl teams have been decided and the countdown has begun. So, I decided to use that as the springboard to check out Football pages in the gallery. It's fascinating! This is the most recent one posted by lvancura. It highlights this great large photo with an extra photo of the ball carrier (presumably related to lvancura, … [Read more...]
