Educational Board Games You Can Play With Your Children
Hi everyone, Sarah here to share another board game post with you all. Today I'm going to talk about board games you can use to teach your kids (and have fun playing the game with them as well). While I think all board games can be used as a teaching tool, especially in the realm of critical thinking, taking turns, teamwork and problem solving, I wanted to focus on games that help teach scholastic concepts.First on my list is Animal Upon Animal. This is basically a stacking game where you are trying to get rid of all of your pieces without knocking down the tower of animals. What I really like about this game is that as you play you can discuss colors as well as the different animals as you place them. Even though this is marketed as a preschool game I've seen many games of this played solely with adults with everyone that was playing thoroughly enjoying the game. I love when you … [Read more...]
Easy (Fancy) Flourless Chocolate Cake
Hellllloooo Pad Scrappers~Polly Liana here, with a fun way to make a fancy cake that's actually really easy and delicious. First, make a flourless chocolate cake using this really fantastic recipe (click on photo for link to recipe):After you've make the cake, let it cool on a cooling rack. Then, I create a round stencil out of card stock, using my personal cutting machine (Silhouette or Cricut). I lay the stencil on the cake. (Instead of trying this technique on someone else's cake, I made my own birthday cake so if I messed it up, I would forgive myself.) :)I then put confectioner's sugar in a sieve and sprinkle it over the cake.Lastly, I use tweezers to pull the pieces of card stock off the cake. The white on brown makes a really dramatic looking cake but it's an easy recipe and pretty simple decorating technique.Enjoy! … [Read more...]

Create a Card: Personalizing Cards
I really enjoy giving cards to family and friends. Cards are perfect way to send birthday wishes, celebrate a special event, or even to just say hello to someone. I always try to have a selection of homemade cards on hand to give out for any of these occasions. I’ve noticed my supply of cards has been getting a bit low and committed myself to making a few cards to bolster it up. Back to School is the theme of today’s card. I also am sharing a tip about how to personalize mass produced cards.Mass producing greeting cards is helpful when you need multiples of the same type of card. This year I decided to mass produce the cards that I give to my children and their teachers on the first day of school. But a bit of mommy guilt crept in and I decided that I “needed” to make each card special. Here is how I did it.To make the cards I used the following supplies: My Tribe | … [Read more...]
