Planner Love: Pocket Pages
Hi, everyone, Sarah here. Last week I shared a post on how I use digital journal cards in my planner. One of the fun things we did last week was go to the zoo and I thought it would be fun to add a pocket page to my weekly planner pages to capture this event.I use a MAMBI Happy Planner and found that the Simple Stories SNAP page protectors fit very well in my planner. With all the different sizes and configurations of pocket pages that are available, hopefully you can find a way to use pockets in your planner as well. Because my planner uses the arc system I began by punching holes and snipping slits to the edge of the protector so that I could place it in my planner. I ignored the holes that were already there as they were too far from the edge and didn't line up correctly with the discs in my binder.I printed some additional journal cards from Just Jaimee's Storyteller … [Read more...]
The Importance of Backing Up
Do you have your memories backed up?It's so easy to forget. Easy to put off. You could keep telling yourself "I'll take care of that next week."And then it happens. Your hard drive fails. You get the blue screen of death. Your computer won't turn on. Your biggest fear has come true, you potentially have lost all of your memories and all of your digi scrap supplies. I have been there before. Panic sets in and you aren't sure you can still breathe. This doesn't have to be the way, there is an easier way.Backing up. I started backing up my supplies, pictures, and layouts about five years ago. I had had a near loss experience, and knew that I couldn't put it off any longer. There are plenty of options for backing up your supplies. You can use an online backup service, such as Backblaze. For a small cost, these services will back up your … [Read more...]
Polly Picks – Cecile
Hello! Polly Karen here bring you another installment of the popular Polly Picks! Every two weeks we ask one of our staff members to choose their favorite products in the shop. Then we put those products on sale! Our latest Polly Picks sale includes products chosen by the fabulous Cecile (Arumrose): Cecile (Arumrose) is an super talented and sweet Polly. She has the ability to go between making pocket style pages and regular scrapbook layouts seemlessly. I love her bright and happy photos and that always present on her pages too. I asked Cecile to describe her style, and this is what she had to say:“I started digital scrapbooking with the arrival of my daughter in 2006. When I look back to my very first layouts for sure I can say that my style has evolved even if the purpose remains the same... scrap the every day photos of my kids, … [Read more...]
Going Hybrid on a budget!
Hello!!!!! Cynthia (MrsPeel) here. I hope everyone is well and enjoying the weekend!!!! I am really, really excited right now as I am going to share with you something I made, and guess what? It is not entirely digital!!!!! I know many of you have been hearing me say how much I admire the hybrid artists, how much I love how things look on paper….but how much I fear the lack of the "undo" button.I have been starting and quitting, starting and quitting… sound familiar? I know a few of you shared my habit of throwing half done paper stuff in the garbage. We would say in "the bin" here in England, but if you look at my use of the word "awesome" you will know I'm North Americanized a LOT! LOL So, bear with me, I know, I talk a lot too & I wonder of subject… age is showing!!! OK, back to what matters.I kept starting and quitting and then I realized the reason for my frustration: I will … [Read more...]
Handmade Manipulatives
Fall is here and the big kids are back at school. I've still got a few little kids that don't go to school yet. My little kids who aren’t in school yet want to do some “schoolwork” just like their siblings do. I don’t want to disappoint them, so I do some preschool learning activities with them. Over the years of doing preschool with my kids I have ran into one major problem....finding manipulatives that readily available or don't come in huge quantities. Eventually I stumbled upon the idea of creating my own maniuplatives using my digi supplies! Yet another way to stretch my digi stash! Today I'm going to show you how creating your own manipulatives is as simple as 1 -2 - 3!1. Select a digi element to be made into a manipulative. I chose to use leaves from Fantabulous Fall Elements by Kim Jensen. I am introducing the season fall to my kids. South Texas doesn't have fall … [Read more...]
