With tomorrow being December 1st, many people will begin Document Your December (DYD around here at The Pad). Document Your December is a primarily daily project meant to capture the memories of the holiday season. Taking on a daily documenting project can be a big endeavor, and it isn’t for everyone. Let’s review the pros and cons of starting a DYD project.Pros A daily documenting project like DYD can yield a lot of memories in a short amount of time. When you are done, you will essentially have 31 memories documented over the course of the month. Creating a DYD album can be a nice keepsake. A few years back, I created an actual album with embellishments and everything. It is still a great keepsake of all of our holiday memories from that year. If you have bouts of struggling with creativity, a daily documenting project can force your hand at being creative - making sure … [Read more...]

Weekly Planner Layout
Hi guys! It's Polly Monica here to share with you my weekly planner layout and some tips for putting your planner pages together.Keeping up with my planner on a weekly basis keeps my entire life so much more organized and manageable! I try to set aside time each week, typically on Sunday afternoons, to plan out the next week and get everything written down in my planner.I use the monthly layout in my planner to write down things as they come up and then I put them on my weekly layout when I'm planning out my week. I put them down in much more detail in my weekly layout. I want the monthly spread to just be a quick glimpse of what's coming up.The very first thing I always do when I sit down to begin planning is make sure I have all of my supplies printed out on sticker paper using the print and cut function on my Silhouette cutting machine. For this layout I used Just … [Read more...]
Mobile Highlights: November 2016
It's time for mobile highlights again! After all of the excitement of American Thanksgiving this week, checking out the mobile highlights is just the thing we need to get back on track. This first layout by cristinac81 jumped out at me right away. I love the way she used the background paper to create her "Day in the Life" layout. This layout by iampinay25 has so many great things going for it. What jumped right out at me though is the brushed use of the plaid paper on the background. It provides just the right grounding for the rest of the layout.Simplicity always jumps out at me, partially because I have a hard time doing a layout like this myself. This layout by mrs2a50 is so simple and understated that it creates a classic look. I love the touch of the very small stars on the background paper.digiscrapper82's layout is the opposite of the last one. There … [Read more...]

Scrapping Holiday Shopping Excursions
Hello everyone - and welcome to what is known as "Black Friday" in the States! The day after Thanksgiving is the biggest shopping day of the year here. The term "Black Friday" comes from the notion that it is the day that merchants turn an annual profit (going from being in the red to being in the black). Whether you are a person who shops all day on Friday, sits at home and shops online or waits for the madness and crowds to dissipate - you have a story to tell. Black Friday is the perfect day to toss around a few quick ideas for memorializing those holiday shopping excursions. One of my favorite ways to scrap holiday shopping is to take a photo of my cart, filled to the brim with holiday goodness. Here is an example of this technique in action: Here are some other ideas for scrapping your holiday shopping adventures: Scan … [Read more...]
Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving dear friends! We at The Lilypad are so grateful for you all! The site wouldn't be what it was without every single person...whether on staff or not...that comes here and shopes, reads, chats, inspires.Gratitude is such a natural part of life but often hard to focus on. Part of my goal this year was to focus on being grateful for everything...good and bad...big or small. Once you start really working on focusing on things in this way, it's amazing how much happier you are. You realize how important everything is but at the same time how unimportant things are! Makes sense huh? ;) I have found, when I focus on being grateful, that the big scary awful things that I let eat away at me are often not as important as I once thought. At the same time, those little things that I used to not even give a second glance to, are often soooo important! I started taking photos, … [Read more...]
