Creating a Recipe Binder: Part 2
Welcome back LilyPad readers! Today I have the second part of my series about creating a recipe binder. In my first post of this series I discussed how to prep for this massive project. Today I'm going to go into a bit of detail how I put my recipe binder together. I hope you will follow along and be inspired to tackle your own growing pile of recipes. To put the binder together I broke it down into five steps again. I found breaking each task into smaller task made this project easier to accomplish. Choose a binder - I knew that I would need a binder that was sturdy, not too big, and was easy to clean. I selected a 6x8 teal binder by Becky Higgins. This binder has a nice slick cover that I'll be able to wipe down and the integrity of the binder seems good. Also I thought the 6x8 size would work nicely as it is comparable in size to a normal recipe book. Choose page … [Read more...]
5 Tricks I Use on Every Layout
Having scrapped for over 6 years now, I have found that there are certain things that I do all the time to help create my layouts. You learn some tricks along the way, and some just seem to become regulars that help define your style as a scrapbooker. I believe that these five tricks that I want to share with you today are what take my layouts to the next level. Repetition - I am a huge fan of using repetition in all of my layouts. Sometimes I repeat the photo, or I repeat some elements. Other times, I create repetition with my use of papers, or with paints and other finishing touches. In this layout, Happy, I have used papers on the template to create repetition among the four triangular paper cutouts. Having the same papers be used on the bottom and the top add a touch of symmetry to the layouts, which I find is pleasing to the eye. Patterned Backgrounds - If you … [Read more...]

Family Board Games
Hi everyone, Sarah here, and I wanted to share a few more board games that are family friendly and would be great games to give and play over the upcoming holiday season. These games are a little pricier than many of the games I've shared here in the past few months, but I hopefully they will make the perfect family gift to put under the tree or play with the entire family after Thanksgiving dinner. The first game I want to talk about is Camel Up (or Camel Cup depending who you ask). The idea behind this game is that you are all spectators at a camel race and trying to predict which camel is going to come first in each leg of the race as well as which camels will come first and last over the course of the entire race. The earlier you make the correct prediction the more points you will get, but if you make an incorrect prediction you'll lose points. This is a great game to play … [Read more...]
Polly Picks – Wendy
Hello! Polly Karen here bring you another installment of the popular Polly Picks! And sadly this is our last ever Polly Picks because we have now officially run out of Pollys! Wendy is the lucky last Polly to be featured. Every two weeks we ask one of our staff members to choose their favorite products in the shop. Then we put those products on sale! Our latest Polly Picks sale includes products chosen by the fabulous Wendy (Wendy85): Wendy (Wendy85) has been both a guest Polly and now is a full time Polly as the winner of the 2015 MOC contest. That means she finished a new challenge every day for each of the 31 days in January and therefore was selected to be our newest member of the creative team for her fantastic work! A quick stroll through Wendy's gallery will show you that she is an amazing scrapper. She is another one of those talented girls … [Read more...]
