Aloha, Pad Scrappers!Polly Liana here, with some tips for great beach photos. For most of you, 'tis the season for some beach time. As a girl born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii but living now an hour from Cape Cod Massachusetts, I am very familiar with beach life. If you're considering taking some snaps during your sandy vacations this year, bring your camera and try out some of these ideas. Ready? Here we go!1. Bump up the colorsMost beaches offer a unique opportunity to see gorgeous shades of blues and greens, along with the bright colors of swimsuits, beach balls and the like. Keep an eye out for those lovely pops of color and fill your shot with them. Also, try bumping up the saturation a bit in post processing.2. Please the eyesGreat photos can pull the viewer's eyes all around by creating leading lines to guide the eye. I love the way light and lines … [Read more...]

Finding Balance in My Creative Outlet
When I started digi scrapping, nine years ago, my focus was two-fold. First, I wanted to record the memories of my growing family. Second, I needed a creative outlet and pass time that I could express myself in. Digi scrapping was giving me a good creative outlet, but I wasn't always catching the everyday life of my family. Fast forward 6 years, and I found Project Life. Project Life was perfect, I was really spending a lot of time capturing the everyday memories we made. Project Life became everything to me, and I abandoned traditional pages altogether. As you can imagine, after a year or so, I started to feel like something was missing. Recently, I went back to traditional pages in addition to my Project Life pages, and I finally feel like I have balance. Today, I want to share with you how I balance the two styles and the purposes they serve in hopes that I can help some of you … [Read more...]

Patriotic Layout Stand Outs
Happy Fourth of July to all of our friends in the United States! With Fourth of July today, and Canada Day earlier in the week, the gallery has been brimming with patriotic layouts lately. I was cruising around the gallery and found some ones that I just had to share with all of you!First off, there's this great use of Kate Hadfield's Star Spangled and a super awesome painty background by cfile: Next, we have this awesome heritage-type layout from lorryfach. I love the word art here, which is from The Dawn's Early Light Element Pack by Amy Wolff. The block style layout by AmberR jumped out at me because of how she included some black and white papers along with the traditional red, white, and blue. I am also loving how she used Amy Martin's Star Bokeh to add a sparkly touch to the layout. This double spread by bjthomas shows a great … [Read more...]
Welcome to the July BYOC!
Howdy Pad Scrappers,Polly Liana here, with the distinct honor of being the first to introduce you to the July BYOC. For those of you unfamiliar with this concept, BYOC stands for Build Your Own Collab. It’s a unique concept developed by the Lilypad: each month our fabulous designers create products that are coordinated around a central palette, so any products you choose will be sure to match with one another. That way, you can decide whose products you want to mix and match together and it all works! Brilliant, huh? This month's BYOC palette is ideal for July. Of course, for those who celebrate the 4th of July, it's got red, white and blue. But it's also got the aqua colors of a sparkling swimming pool, the bright fuchsia of swimsuits and it's balanced by glimpses of kraft and mustard. Perfect!Let's check out this fab new collection, shall we? Here it is:First, we have … [Read more...]
