Hello everyone! It’s Polly Karen here back to show off a new batch of monthly challenges. For February we are back to our normal 8 challenges, rather than the extravaganza of challenges that we had in January for the Month of Challenges (MOC). Did you play along? I sure did and it feels awesome to have completed all 31 challenges! After that many challenges, February should be a breeze to complete!
Each month we have 8 brand new challenges that are posted in the forum Challenge Pad on the 1st (the BYOC Challenge is posted on the 1st Friday of the month.) You can use the challenges simply to inspire you to keep creating new layouts OR you can also earn yourself a fabulous coupon for your next shopping trip in the Lilypad Store. (2 challenges = 10%, 4 challenges = 20% and 6 challenges = 30%). Those who complete at least 7 challenges will be entered in a drawing for a $50 gift certificate! Isn’t that an awesome prize?!?! You’ll get lots of great memories captured in your scrapbooks AND you could win a fat GC prize!!! Woo-hoo! So let’s take a look at this month’s new batch of challenges!
1. BYOC Challenge – First up is the BYOC Challenge. This challenge is hosted by Natasha (bcnatty) and the challenge is to use 90% of the products on your page from the current BYOC collection and from at least 3 designers. Here’s a great sample layout created by Natasha:
2. Template Challenge – Heather (HeatherB) is hosting this month’s Template Challenge. The challenge is to use the free template supplied by Tangie Baxter and create a layout using it. Here’s a look at the free template followed by a sample that Heather created:
3. Scraplift Challenge – February’s scraplift challenge is hosted by Lori (lcpereyra). Lori has decided to play a game of scraplift tag. Simply go to the Scraplift Challenge thread and you will scraplift whoever was the last person to post in that thread. Be sure to post a comment in that thread saying you are playing along and that you’re planning to scraplift the person right before you. Once you finish your page go back and add your layout to that same post. Lori got us started by picking Vixen to scraplift. Here’s a look at Vixen’s layout from her gallery and then created the following scraplifted layout:
4. Inspiration Challenge – Jenn (jk703) is hosting February’s Inspiration challenge and she wants you to be inspired by TWO of last month’s 31 MOC challenges. You don’t have to follow all of the same rules, but choose two of last month’s challenges that inspired you and combine pieces of two challenges together to make one new page. Jenn combined the Geometrical Mosaics Technique Challenge and the Clean and Simple Style Challenge to make this fabulous layout:
5. Style Challenge – I (Karen) am super excited to be able to host this month’s Style Challenge and I decided to choose “artsy” as the style to play with for February. You may do a full blown art journaling page OR a tradition page with a couple of element requirements (paint splatter, sequin OR glitter, a handwritten font and at least one doodle or stamp). I decided to go the tradition layout route with an artsy flair for my sample layout:
6. Journaling Challenge – The February Journaling Challenge is being hosted by Courtney and she would like you to incorporate some song lyrics onto your layout. Here is a great sample layout that she created:
7. Photography Challenge – Jan (IntenseMagic) is hosting the Photography Challenge for February and she wants you to capture “the little things” that you love this month and then create a layout with your photo(s). Here is an adorable layout that Jan created with one little thing she loves:
8. Random Challenge – Last, but certainly not least, we have the Random Challenge for this month hosted by Ashley (ashleywb). Ashley wants you to have another go at one of the MOC challenges from last month. Pick any one of the 31 challenges and create a page for it either again or try one that maybe you didn’t have a chance to finish last month. This can be that push to complete another one! Ashley chose to play around with the Dispersion Technique again on this fun sample page:
Challenge Galleries: (post your pages to these galleries)
Aren’t they fun? Another fabulous month and another set of inspiring challenges by our Pollys (creative team members). Once you create your own layouts inspired by these challenges, be sure to post them to the appropriate galleries as listed above. Then be sure to also post them to the appropriate thread in the challenge forum. See the thread HERE for further challenge guidelines and see the February Challenge Pad HERE to get started! Don’t forget to post all of your completed layouts in the Challenge Layouts thread so we can be sure to get you the proper coupon at the end of the month. I’ll be back near the end of the month to shine my spotlight on some of the pages created for these challenges! I can’t wait to see what you come up with! Happy scrapping!
