Hello friends!!
Today’s blog post is inspired by the August Journaling Challenge. Journaling challenges give us a change to dig into our stories and make them the center of our layouts. I love a good journaling prompt as a jumping off point for a scrapbook page.
This month’s challenge is a simple one that gave me a lot of positive inspiration. The challenge was to simply create a layout with journaling about something that makes you happy.
After reading the challenge, I went looking for a kit that shouted “happy” to me and I found it in Moments Like This by Pink Reptile Designs. The bright, cheerful colors and elements really gave off a “happy” vibe that I knew I could incorporate into a layout with this journaling. I even decided to use the Moments Like This template set.
I chose photos of my four kids having a water balloon fight on the Fourth of July this year because I wanted to journal about how seeing them have fun and “play” together makes me happy. I wanted to include a photo of each of my four kids during their water balloon fight, so I chose a template with four photo spots and duplicated those to make a photo spot for all four photos I chose.
After adding two extra photo spots, I did have to slide the all of the elements and papers of the template a bit to the left so that it all fit on the page. That’s the only big changes I made to the template.
To highlight my journaling, I recolored some of the text pink and orange, coordinating with colors in the papers and elements.
I created the title of the layout using the Moments Like This Alpha set and a word art sticker included in the element set.
Here are a few more layouts that are already in the journaling challenge thread that I love!!
Head over to the Journaling Challenge forum and check out this great challenge and all of the layouts there for inspiration for your own layout about what makes you happy!

I was not expecting to see my layout featured on the blog. I’m tearing up a little.
