Hey everyone! Hope the end of summer, first of school is treating you well. This will likely leave you with some “extra” time or just regular time to create. I have a fun thing to try for hybrid that you may not have thought about.
It’s Katrina aka katrinahunt13 here on the blog today sharing a hybrid layout I did with a fun template from Sabrina’s Creations. If you haven’t taken a look at her store DO IT! I love her style even though it is so different than mine. AKA, I pile stuff on and Sabrina has a clean and simple style. BUT, I fell in love with her In Review|September ’17 Template and just kept going back to it. That hexagon kept calling my name.
And then Allison Pennington’s Doggo kit was calling my name! If you haven’t seen it, here is the kit picture. I knew mixing the two would be a fun combo.
So, I started playing with it in digital and decided to try it for hybrid. I understand clipping masks, but for the life of me I couldn’t figure out how to get a picture on all these different pieces. So, I asked in the forum and you can find all the help I received HERE. As a traditional/hybrid scrapper shapes like these are usually not part of a layout. Most of the time you will see circles.
So, once I followed the forum advice and got my picture(s) clipped to the shapes, then I saved just the shapes as a .jpg and opened in Silhouette Studio. and then traced, so that my Cameo would do all the hard work. Hard to tell, but that is a “12×12” project in Silhouette. Also, I left one of the pictures out when I did this! I moved the shapes apart so they would be easier to trace.
I basically created my layout in Photoshop and then just put all the pieces that I wanted on a different canvas and saved as a .png so I could move back into Silhouette Studio for tracing and cutting. Hee her, there is the picture piece I forgot earlier!
Once I had everything traced and cut, then it was time to put together my layout. I love how this turned out. Allison’s clouds were so fun to print and cut!
I actually put the picture together first and then I had to go and take it apart! It was better to put the pattern pieces for the hexagon first to get everything lined up. You can see below that I was a little “off” when I placed my piece, but hey, nothing is ever perfect on my pages! I am always slightly crooked or something is not quite right! LOL
And here you can see where I raised three of the picture pieces with foam adhesive and I LOVE the look it gave!
So, just because you do hybrid, doesn’t mean that you cannot use all these fun templates with fun shapes for the pictures! I will be doing way more of these, so watch out here on the blog!! Have a great Monday and if you are in the hurricane area please stay safe.

Okay, this is really cool!! I never would have thought to use a digi template to create an actual paper layout! I’ve printed paper and elements for hybrid projects, but never gave templates a second thought! I’m going to have try this!
