Hey y’all! I’m back with some sage advice for all you guys and gals. I asked who needed help, and by golly! I got some great questions!
Jennifer had three good ones right off the bat!
How do you find time to scrap with a busy life? I really miss scrapping but it’s at the bottom of a very long list of priorities at the moment.
Well Jennifer, this one comes back to mah priorities. I got to catch flies and keep Bart in line. And mah next priority is gettin’ those memories scrapped. I tell Bart to leave me be at least once a week and make it mah scrap time. No organizin’ or daydreamin’ just scrappin’. I ignore that to-do list of mine and get to relaxin’ and scrappin’.
How do you streamline your scrapping process?
That depends. Iff’n I’m workin’ on a project or a group of similar pages, then I batch process some stuff. So, I pick out all the photos. Next time I will grab the papers and ellies I want to use. Then easy-peasy lemon squeezy I put those memories together. It’s only easy-peasy cuz I don’t go back to supplies or photos. Limitin’ mah options makes me faster.
I’m a super simple scrapper by nature, how would you simplify templates to meet your style?
That depends on the templates! Since ya mentioned mah buddy Cheryl – aka Fiddle Dee Dee – what I like ta do is drop a paper right under the photo spots. I scrap what’s left and add or subtract if there’s too much still. I’ve also hidden all the element layers to start, and just used the photo spots. Those Polly friends of mine have some examples of her templates with a few less pretties on them. You might take a looksee at those too.
Gaelle told me
I want colors on my pages ! I want colors on my pictures!
Well sweetie pie, you add all the color you want! When I’m a-strugglin’ with color I’ll check out an old-fashioned color wheel. Those contrastin’ and complementary colors help me pick out kits to match the main color in mah photos. Mah green skin shines against reds, but to avoid that Christmas feel, I like to use a pink or purple color too. I’ve been known to decrease the saturation on my photos when Bart wears some of his bright neon colors. Can’t have his outfits clashin’ with mah perfect green skin!
Stefanie wants to know
I would like a feature on why and when to create single photo layouts.
Sweetie pie, Imma gonna see if my friends can get you a feature. For now, I use single photos when it’s the only one I got. I also use one photo when it tells the whole story. I do like a good supportin’ photo, but highlightin’ a precious moment, like a first tooth, graduation, or funny shirt can give it more importance when it’s the only photo.
Debbie inquired of me:
My scrapping mojo has left so I need to know how to start back to scrapping when my brain has no ideas?
Well dearheart, since we are all individuals, I just don’t know what will motivate you to get that mojo back. Mah friends had a few ideas: tryin’ out challenges, buyin’ somethin’ new, takin’ a photo that makes your heart sing and scrappin’ it right away, takin’ a break, tryin’ somethin’ new like a tutorial or scrap liftin’ someone with a different style. For me, I gotta scrap what’s callin’ mah heartstrings – maybe a vacation or a recent memory, or even that hilarious meme I saw with the frog joke. Ya know, the one where he’s waitin’ for the bus cuz his car was toad? Slap mah knee, it made mah day!
And Maureen had the final question this month:
Is there a list or a specific gallery of all the Pollys and including their screen name?
I asked about and they don’t have a list anywhere right now. But, the Polly’s do post to their creations to Pollywog Team layouts Gallery: here.
Check the forum for next month’s chance to ask me some questions. Ta ta for now!
