Polly Anne of Alamo here with the crazed look of a mom with too many children and the wonder of all this time on her hand as they are all in school! How are you other mom's handling the life with their kid's brains being filled during the daytime hours away from your abode? I am loving it! I have organized and done so much laundry it is scary. But I hope if yours haven't gone back, you at least plan the first day of school photo. Every year, we go to the elementary school and all those in school, must pose. You would think I was pulling out their toenails with the photos I clicked. I knew it was gonna be a crazy morning with photos, so I let my youngest three wear their new school clothes Sunday night and had a photo shoot! Oh yes, now I can make a page worthy of ooohs and ahs in the 2013 Yearbook:I love the idea of the night before or just prepping for school pages. I … [Read more...]

Journal Pad: Let Your Kids Do All The Work
*insert evil laugh here* So, my kids are starting school today. Yep, today I am the mother of a High School Freshman! EEK, how did that happen? Also, the mom of a 7th grader, 3rd grader and Kindergartener. Whew, I'm tired and I don't even have to carry a backpack. Anyway, now that they are getting into a school routine, I figured a little extra homework from Mom wouldn't kill anyone, right? So this post is all about letting your children (or grandchildren, or nephews/nieces, or friends' kids) do the work for you. Admittedly, I may have difficulty getting my older children to cooperate with this endeavor completely, but my little ones will be more than willing to play along. So grab a kid and ask them a few questions. Then voila! You have journaling material for a scrapbook page that provides great content for the future viewers of it and an excuse to buy more scrap stuff. … [Read more...]
Gettin’ to Know You…
Hi Happy Scrappers!Polly Liana here, with some tips for getting to know someone better. Years ago, I used a popular online dating site to try and find the man of my dreams. Day after day, night after night, I would go out on dates with lots of different men, engaging in chit chat and learning more about them. Some conversations were easy, others were excruciatingly difficult. One day in a bookstore, I came across this book: As I flipped through the pages, I found a treasure trove of interesting questions, in logical categories. Some were simple yes/no questions, others were so deep that it would take pages to answer fully. I bought the book and from then on, right before I'd go out on a date, I would flip to a few random pages and pick some questions I thought would be interesting to ask my date. It was such an eye-opener and it made it so much more fun to have … [Read more...]
Snappy Sunday: It’s All About the Phone
So, the evolution of photography in my life has been an interesting one. I've always loved photography and my 1st camera looked a little like this...Yep, I really had one of these, and still remember taking out the picture and waving it in the air to dry after pulling the film off of it to reveal the masterpiece within, hehe. When I was in Junior High School, I had an awesome little 35mm that didn't look half as fun as this one but I still loved it. And I was constantly saving my money for film and developing. Let's just say, there were not nearly as many photos taken as I would have liked. Geez, film was expensive. My cameras improved over the years, but it wasn't until my 1st Digital Camera in 1998 that things changed dramatically. I was able to take as many pictures as I wanted and believe me, I did :). My first digital camera was HUGE, was less than 1 MP in quality, … [Read more...]

Art Journaling is Alive and Well at the Lily Pad!
Another fantastic month of a challenge that inspired and brought back memories, good, bad and sometimes pure wonder! The theme was Home is Where the Heart Is. Each week the was a chat (not required to attend, but oh so fun) to reveal the new challenge of the week. We had our childhood homes, the home we are in now, and then the home filled with hopes and dreams. Each week, I could not get over the ingenuity of the artist, and their little homes. Take a gander at this childhood home of Crista: Then omuli did this digital house for the second week, and I was blown away. It looks like she had the glue and scissors out! Some went with hopes, some with dreams and then Nemla made each of us want her house; My self cleaning dream home. All through the month, not having a background to work with pulled and tormented the challengees. They were so relieved when the last … [Read more...]
