Using Your Silhouette to Add Theme to Pocket Scrapping Projects
Hi all, Sarah here and I want to talk about something that I do quite regularly for my pocket scrapping projects. I love using a kit or coordinating products to complete a pocket scrapping layout but sometimes when you're looking at documenting such a wide variety of memories on a single page it's hard to find a kit that speaks to everthing on that page. One way that I get around this is by using cut files from the Silhouette store and filling them with papers and/or paint from whatever kit or collection I'm using to ensure that everything matches. For this first page I wanted to document the large amount of blue jays that my daughter and I saw in our yard that day, but I didn't think to take a photo as we were admiring the birds. I love Amy Wolff's kit Urban Fusion for the majority of this page. The red and blue colors worked well with my memories, I love the fun word art and … [Read more...]
Mixed Media Monthly: March edition of Scrap with Heather
I know I say this every month, but the colors and the theme of this month's Mixed Media Monthly is so gorgeous! This is such a great intro to spring! I decided to do something a little different this month. Normally, I do a pretty flat art journal page. I just love all the flowery elements and wanted to do a more traditional photo-less scrapbook style. To do that I just added a larger shadow to the elements to make them pop off the background a bit more.Last week in the subscriber forum, I started a series on design concepts and when I started putting the page together, I naturally went to using the rule of thirds. Also, when I'm bundling little clusters around the page, I like to work in odd numbers. When I would drag over a flower, I would use CTRL + J (Command + J on a Mac) twice to duplicate it twice more for a total of three. It's a fun easy tip when pulling together a … [Read more...]

Paper Flowers Tutorial
Greetings, Happy Scrappers!Polly Liana here, with a tutorial about how to create beautiful paper flowers with your electric cutting machine (Silhouette, Cricut, etc.) I don't know about you, but here in Massachusetts we are desperate for any signs of spring after more than 100 inches of snow in two months. I have been finding myself making all kinds of flowers… paper, crochet, you name it! These flowers are simple to make but look delicate and intricate. They make a terrific decoration for presents, cards, frames, etc. Let's get started...First, find a good flower template that can be cut by your cutting machine. It should be noted that you can absolutely cut these by hand but it's infinitely easier with an electric cutter. Here is the pattern for the rose flower, after it was removed from the machine and the excess paper was removed:Next, use a quilling tool to start … [Read more...]

We asked Becky to describe her style, and this is what she had to say:"I have been digiscrapping for lots of years now and my style seems to have changed through time. I have very much embraced the idea of pocket scrapping--I am currently working on my 3rd year of Project Life after completing 2 years of a Project 365 project. My goal in scrapbooking is to record our life for my two boys and so I always try to include at least some journaling on my layouts. My twin boys love to look through our … [Read more...]

3″x4″ Wall Art Update
Hey all, Sarah here. In January I blogged about my 3"x4" Wall Art using Journal Cards and wanted to post a little update on this.I mentioned that I hoped to put these cards and photos into an album at the end of each month so that I could continue enjoying these photos and cards for years to come. I found page protectors from Kaisercraft that have twelve 3"x4" pockets. I bought two packs just to make sure I'd have enough for the year and went ahead and slid my January and February wall art into the pockets. Each month I create my wall using the current Memory Pockets Monthly collection. Here are my February pages stored in a page protector ready to go into my album. I love having these photos and cards to look at all month. It really brings me a ton of joy to have this rotating monthly gallery. Here are a few close ups from my March … [Read more...]
