Lyrical: Let’s Hear It For the Boy!
Hey guys... Jen here.... Ok, well as much as that song tends to pop in my head and I find myself singing the chorus ALL day long... that's NOT the song I want you to think about for this Lyrical post. Sorry... did I get it stuck in your head? Oops. With Father's Day coming up in a couple of weeks I want you to try listening to this one instead... Daddy's Hands by Holly Dunn. I am going to apologize in advance for all of you who do not like country music. Please try however, to put your disdain for the genre aside for just a brief moment so that you may really hear the lyrics. While you are listening to this song I want you to notice what feelings surface within you and what memories come to the forefront of your mind. After you listened... and felt... I want you to go scrap a page about the father in your life. Perhaps your page will be about your own dad, someone who was like a … [Read more...]

What’s Hot?! ——> BOLD Backgrounds
Maybe it's the vibrant energy of summer lurking around the corner that's driving this trend? Or maybe it's just that it's so much fun to add flare! Whatever the reason, the galleries are filled with pages that are sporting bold patterned backgrounds! Patterns like stripes and polk-a-dots are making a big impact on layout designs, and the results are fabulous!!!There's so much you can do with a bold patterned paper. It can be used as the primary background element...Or it can peek out from underneath layers of papers and goodies piled up...The pattern can be combined with a solid or a more neutral patterned paper to add distinction to the background...Or several different pattern styles can be combined...Different solids and patterns can even be combined to make your own patterned background...However you put them to use, there's nothing understated about using … [Read more...]
The Journal Pad
Confession... I am NOT an "All About Me" scrapper. The phrase makes me cringe really, and pretty much anything that's labeled AAM turns me away... at this point it's almost a conditioned response. I think it's because it sounds so all-encompassing. ALL about me. Well, I can't possibly complete an album that's ALL about me. It just seems an impossible task. BUT. I have been making a conscious effort lately to reflect on my story - in small doses. I've realized I don't have to cover everything there is to know. How could I? Instead, I'm adopting the philosophy that something is better than nothing. It doesn't have to be ALL about me. It can be SOMETHING about me. Seems much more manageable.See, I can remember as a teen, and into my young adult years, sitting with my great-grandmother, asking her questions about her life - names of the faces in her photographs or stories of being a … [Read more...]
Favorites: Got Boys? Edition
Hi Lilypadders! Do you love to scrap? Do you only have boys? Do you feel frustrated when it comes to finding good masculine kits through the myriad of beautiful feminine kits out there? I know I do. It's kind of like clothes shopping. There are 25 racks of girls clothing to 1 ugly rack of boy stuff somewhere at the back of the store. I do have to say that the Lilypad is pretty good at representing the boys though.Today I am going to highlight some of my favorite boy kits by theme here at the Lilypad. Let me warn you that this is a LONG post. Grab your coffee and plan to stay awhile. Ready? Here we go.Blocks Oh my gosh. I do believe I have every type of block known to boys in my playroom. They are scattered all over everywhere. Trying to walk in my house without stepping on a block is a major undertaking. I love this kit by Jacque and Gina.Boo BoosMy oldest son had … [Read more...]
