Greetings, Pad Scrappers!Polly Liana here, feeling excited and a little ashamed. I'm bummed because I missed an opportunity last week to introduce you to the MPM for December (wah!). It was introduced on November 24th but usually it's introduced in the late twenties of the month (the last Friday). Because the first of the month falls on a Friday, it snuck up on me. My apologies for not shouting it out sooner. Oh well, that means I've got TWO great things to show you in this post-- MPM and BYOC!So, last week the new Memory Pockets Monthly was released. For those of you new to the concept, MPM stands for Memory Pockets Monthly. Every month around this time, a bunch of our very talented pocket designers collaborate on a collection of products, designed with a single word and color palette in mind. This month, the word is, aptly, TWINKLE. It’s full of lots of Christmas … [Read more...]

Seasonal Inspiration: Here for the Food!
Whether you have a traditional feast and a full-on fine dining experience or more humble fare through Thanksgiving and the coming holidays, wherever you are, this time of year food photography can take centre stage on a scrapbook page and I'm here with some gallery inspo I've collected to inspire you.Photo op's abound from the prep and cooking through to the carving, plating and sharing. This is also a chance to commemorate the effort and action of the kitchen crew. Maybe you or the resident chef tried a new technique or recipe? Don't forget the table decorations and details (especially if you are pulling out the 'good plates'!) and if they're a cooperative bunch, a few shots of those that have gathered, whether it be as a group staged photo or more photojournalistic snapshots from the event will be priceless in years to come.Minimal or maximal scrap style, it's the memories … [Read more...]
Thoughtful Thursday : Thankfulness
Hello again, Polly Stefanie here with some thoughts on capturing the thankfulness, the gratitude of this season. Thankfulness is the feeling of being happy or grateful because of something.I found some layouts in the Lilypad gallery that remind us of things in our lives that we can be thankful for.We have ordinary, every day, safety, celebrations, a good life.We have the comforts of home, relaxation times, tv, cat cuddles etc.The beauty of nature, and the health to enjoy it.Family to spoil and treasure, whether they are far or near. Our pets that add such a richness and joy to our lives.Friendships, these can be the family that we choose for ourselves.Let's make sure to include the people, moments, places, animals and things that are important to us, the myriad of things we can be thankful for. … [Read more...]
Thoughtful Thursday November 16th, No titles.
Hello again, Polly Stefanie here with a few layouts I created from our cruise vacation earlier this year. Because these will form part of a photobook of our cruise I didn't think each layout needed a title. I tried to keep the design similar and made sure to add the date to each of them.Just a little reminder that sometimes the photos, journaling and a few elements to add a little sparkle or pop of dimension and texture is all you need. … [Read more...]
Page Fixes: Let’s talk about Color Temperature (& Photo Filters)
I don’t think it matters how long you’ve scrapped or who you are, there are times when you just aren’t loving the page as it’s coming together in front of you. It happens to everyone, right?! As a mix and match scrapper, sometimes clashing colours feel like the problem. But is it always the colours or is it actually the colour temperature? Instead of turning everything black and white, let's look at some other filters.______________________________Colour Theory Background:As far as what we begin learning about as children goes, most people have a superficial understanding that red, orange and yellow and derivatives of these tend to be warm, whereas blue, green and purple as a general rule, tend to be cool colours. It's probably not a coincidence that hot water taps are often labelled in red and the cold tap in blue!A step beyond this level of understanding though, I think most … [Read more...]
