It's that time once again: it's time for Mobile Highlights! That's right, I've been surfing around Instagram and found some of the best layouts that are tagged with the Lilypad's hashtag - #the_lilypad. Today I want to spotlight those special layouts for all of you!First up is this layout by katechris05. The composition of this layout is great. The black and white photos make the colors look awesome, but it was one little detail that caught my eye: notice how the banner goes on top of the title work. I thought that was an interesting choice, and helps to make the journaling stand out a bit more. Had the title work been over the banner, it would have taken away from the journaling.Ok, so this layout by notoriaus is just plain AWESOME SAUCE! I love the visual combination of images and the use of the clouds. Definitely a layout that caught my eye almost right … [Read more...]

Blending Colored Pencils with Gamsol
Hi Happy Scrappers!Polly Liana here, with a fun tutorial about how to blend colored pencils with an odorless mineral spirit called "Gamsol." Along with digiscrapping, I also enjoy making cards with rubber stamps. Although I enjoy coloring my own cards, I was never able to get the colored pencils to blend properly. I love watercolor pencils but I couldn't use them unless my image was produced with waterproof ink, otherwise the water would make it bleed.Enter Gamsol and Prismacolor pencils. Turns out, there are lots of neat tutorials out there about how to use this spirit to blend colored pencils smoothly and easily. Intrigued? Here's what you need:Paper medium (I use A4 size lux white cards from Paper Source):Prismacolor pencils (I've found Crayola pencils don't blend properly). They're expensive but I got mine for a great price from AC Moore during a sale:Gamsol … [Read more...]

How to Incorporate QR Codes Into Memory Keeping
QR codes have been around for several years. Since the 90s to be exact. While using QR codes is not new technology. It just so happens that some new ideas for using QR codes in the memory keeping process were brought to light during a Lilypad Chat and I am eager to share them.
