4 Things I Do Before Finishing a Layout
This coming June, I will have my 8th year anniversary of digi scrapping! I can hardly believe it's been 8 years, but definitely do not want to go back and check out those first few layouts! Over time, I've found that I do things in a certain order for each layout. Moreover, that there are certain "finishing touches" that I do to every layout before I call it done. Today I wanted to share with you the 4 things I do before finishing a layout. So here is my layout as I am about to finish it. I could save it right now, and it would be great. There are a few things I want to do, however, to take my layout to the next level. Follow along as I take those steps.Step 1: Add a white border to my photo/photos. I have been doing this a long time, and I think it really helps to make the picture stand out. Also, it mimics how I print pictures "in real life" so it makes sense … [Read more...]
DIY Inserts for Travelers Notebooks
Hi all, Sarah here with another fun planner project. This month I decided to take the Planner Collection Monthly: Love Letters products and create some fun seasonal inserts for my travelers notebook.I began by creating an 8"x8" canvas in my scrapping software to create the covers of each notebook. For this first one I took one of the personal size planner pages from the main kit and and placed it on the right half of the canvas, making sure the edge lined up with the center and that the tab was outside of my canvas. I then picked a paper from the Love Letters Patterns and Backgrounds by Allison Pennington to place on the left side of the canvas. I printed this onto an 8.5"x11" sheet of cardstock and trimmed to size. I chose to include a grid paper inside this notebook insert which I colored pink to match the collection. I used ten sheets, printed double sided, also trimmed … [Read more...]

Mobile Highlights: January 2016
It's time for Mobile Highlights again! With the Month of Challenges in full swing there were TONS of great layouts shared using the TLP hashtag #the-lilypad. It was super hard, but I narrowed it down to five that really stood out to me. Let's check them out!First off is this colorful layout by jjriward. I love how the banners are pointing up, that's something that you don't often see. I also like the repetition of the triangle shape on the page. How fierce is this lion? It is the perfect bold statement to go with the layout by afairlyfabulouslife. I love the artistic look of this page with all of the sketches and paint. The composition is great too...everything moves across the page.This. This is how you do white space. The white background on this layout by cheyang09 plays so nicely with the photo, and really creates the snowy winter feel. The pops of color from … [Read more...]
