So how crazy is it that it is almost 2012?! IWhat I love about the new year is the potential that comes with it! Of course, you can choose to turn a new page whenever you want, but it seems a lot easier to start at the beginning of the year, when everyone else is doing the same! Plus the obsessive-compulsive side of me loves the neatness that comes with beginning something on 1/1. So I just wanted to give you a quick low-down and inspiration for some projects you can start this upcoming year!Have you guys heard of One Little Word? Ali Edwards does this every year, where she chooses a word and tries to embody it as much as possible for the entire year. If you choose blessed, for example, the idea is to pause when you are feeling down and remember all you are blessed with. Or perhaps to create more memories that make you feel blessed! The possibilities are endless. I'm going to direct … [Read more...]

Year in Review
One of my absolute favorite things to do every December is scrap a year in review page. I love the process of going through all my photos from the year to pick out my favorites, laughing and smiling over the memories they bring back. And I absolutely looovvvee the finished results! A page where I can get a quick glimpse of what happened each month? Why wouldn't I want one of those? Here is mine for this year, using a template from Aspen by Sara and Resolutions by Valorie and KittyThis is the third year I've done a year in review page, and not only do I love them, I've found it helps me make sure that I take at least one photo a month! Though don't worry if you're missing a photo! Replace it with a pretty paper and an element or even a photo from another month. The point is to have something that represents your year, but it's not an exact science. Here are some products that could … [Read more...]
The Best Camera
Do you know what my opinion is regarding which camera is the best camera? It's the one that you have with you! As a scrapbooker, I love the quality of the photos that I can achieve with my DSLR, but I love even more the everyday moments that I capture with my little Canon pocket camera, my little pocket waterproof Olympus, my iPod Touch, and my Blackberry.I'm not afraid to take my little Canon anywhere. It is always in my purse. I have taken over 19,000 photos with it and I love it to pieces. I probably wouldn't have gotten this shot of my sister, brother in law, and my nephews getting hit by a wave when they turned their back on the ocean. (Never turn your back on the ocean!)I also love to take photos of the food I cook or eat. A couple of the food photos I've taken with my little Canon pocket camera have appeared on the America's Test Kitchen blog!I'm not afraid to take … [Read more...]
What’s on the Menu?
There's been a bit of discussion rolling around in the TLP forums about menu planning, so I thought I would share what has worked wonders for our family!A few months back, I was fed up to the max with my lack of execution when it came to actually planning and preparing meals at home. I had the very best of intentions, but without a plan, I was floundering. We were driving through WAY more than I would like to admit, and our bellies and budget were taking the hit for it. In my desperation and determination to make a change, I did what every reasonable woman would do... I went to Wal-Mart. *lol* Seriously, though, I knew I needed to find SOMETHING that would be cheap and easy to put in place, and that would actually WORK. I bought a $3 planner, which is now what I use for my menu planning.I use the monthly calendar to sort of plot out what I'm going to make and when. For instance, I … [Read more...]
Lilypad Lovin’
Hello everyoneI hope you are all finishing up with work and are starting to enjoy some quality family time. For today's blog post, I decided to do something a little different. At 7:15 PM (PST) last night, I checked who was logged into the Lilypad forum, pulled up their gallery and chose one layout that I love to spotlight on the blog. Without further ado, here they are!Thank you for spending your time and sharing your talent with us at the Lilypad.By sillescrapper - I love how her design follows her title. It looks like the string is holding all the photos to the balloon, which is soon to fly away. By sarahbhb - This is such a sweet page with just the right amount of elements. I'm Origami-challenged so I really appreciate anyone who has such a talent. By KarenC - I love how Karen kept the element work simple to spotlight the beauty of the moment … [Read more...]
