Hello everyone and happy Autumn! I wanted to share some of my favorite seasonal tips with you as we are moving into the “oh so fabulous” Autumn season (at least here in the States).
There are many ways to convey the feeling of a season on a page. Color is generally the first characteristic that catches the viewer’s eye, so make sure you use colors that represent the season. Autumn is usually represented by deep, grungy tones of orange, plum, gold, olive, burgandy – the colors that you see in changing leaves.
Next on the agenda are seasonal specific elements – pumpkins and leaves tend to be the most popular for Autumn, but you should be sure to include any elements that bring the season to mind for you. For example, football is a big part of Autumn for me so you might find football-related elements on a page about Autumn (even if it is not about a sporting event).
Journaling about your favorite parts of the season, or creating a bucket list of things you want to do during the season are always good ideas for capturing what it special about it to you. Including lots of adjective-based word art also helps to set the tone and bring back memories of seasonal faves. Think about descriptions of the weather, sights, sounds and smells you associate with Autumn.
Here is a page that I recently made with Bella Gypsy’s newest Wonder-fall Collection and Sweet Comfort Templates by Fiddle-Dee-Dee Designs that incorporates these ideas:
Notice the color scheme (which is inherent in seasonal themed kits), seasonal elements and descriptive word art strips to set the scene. Of course, the Autumn photos really tell the whole seasonal story, but even without the photos this page screams Autumn and takes me right to my most favorite time of the year.
What are your favorite seasonal scrapping ideas? Be sure to share them with us in the comments (and link us up to your pages in the TLP Gallery)!
Until next time ~
