Hi guys!! It’s Polly Monica here with a fun and useful hybrid project!
In addition to scrapbooking, my other love is reading! I accomplished my goal of reading over thirty-six books last year, so this year I set a new goal to read forty books. I also made a goal to keep better track of the books I’m reading.
I decided to create a hybrid reading journal using a traveler’s notebook and I am so in love with how it turned out!!
I used my silhouette vinyl cutting machine and vinyl to decorate the front and back covers of my reading journal.
I also used my Silhouette to print and cut out stickers from the elements in One Little Bird’s High Street Stories kit. I used them to decorate the inside cover and will also use them throughout the reading journal to decorate pages.
In the first few pages of the reading journal I am going to just list the books I’ve read this year. I’ve already read six, so I’m feeling great about my goal!
I set aside three pages for this.
Then for recording each book’s information, I’m using a journaling card from High Street Stories. I’m placing an image of each book and typing in the title, author’s name, and date that I started and finished reading in Photoshop. I printed one out for each of the books I’ve read so far.
I plan to hand write a short review and favorite quote from each book in the “book notes” section and use a colored pencil or marker to color in my star rating for each book as well.
I’m so excited to continue this project for each book I read this year! I think it will make an excellent keepsake and resource to look back on.
If you’re a reader, you should check out The Lilypad’s Book Club in the forums! This month they’re reading Little Broken Things by Nicole Baart. I’m sure they would love to have you join in the discussion!!
Do you keep a record of the books you’ve read? If you’re looking for a fun way to do that, you should totally give this reading journal a try!

Great idea! What fonts did you pick for the cover? LOVE!

I’ve often tried to keep lists of books I read (as well as movies, etc). But I never keep it up. This is beautiful and inspiring!
