Hi everyone, Sarah here to show you how I used personal sized planner inserts to create an insert for my traveler’s notebook.
I chose to use this month’s Planner Collection Monthly, Spring Forward. By adding some of the addons as well I had so many items to choose from it made putting this planner together so easy.
My first step was to create the cover for my insert. I chose to use one of the personal sized covers from Allison Pennington’s Spring Forward: Cover Story for the front cover. I began by creating an 8.5″x11″ canvas and then resizing and cropping Allison’s artwork to 4″x8″ and then placing it to the right hand side of my canvas. For the back I chose a complimenting floral design from Allison’s Spring Forward: Does This Make Me Look Boxy v.4 to add just a bit of fun to the back of my notebook, making sure to place the center of the design about 2″ away from the left side of my cover.
Next I chose to use Allison’s daily planner insert from the main kit. I also resized and cropped this down to 4″x8″ and placed one to each side of the center of the page, making sure the pages were centered top to bottom of the page. This basically gave me a centered 8″x8″ square on each page and I then printed seven sheets front and back (giving me 28 days worth of planner pages).
For my final sheet, I only printed the planner pages on one side, and on the other printed one of the labels from Allison’s addon to the right side of the paper, again centering this about two inches to the right of the center of the page. This will act as a place to put my name and contact information inside the front cover.
Finally I trimmed the cover and inside pages to 8″x8″ squares and stacked them in the order they will go into the notebook.
I folded each paper in half and stapled the spine.
In addition to creating the book I also print quite a few of the stickers from the main collection, Allison’s addon as well as Little Butterfly Wings Spring Forward – Stickers and Spring Forward – Tags addons and cut them out with my Silhouette. I made the stickers relatively small in order for them to fit on the smaller pages.
I started planning out the first couple of days of the month, so that you can see my planner pages in action.
This may not work with every personal sized insert but if you’re looking to create a fun planner insert for your traveler’s notebook, printable personal planner inserts are a great place to start.
