1. Style Challenge – The first challenge up for October is the Style Challenge hosted by Julie (mrs2a50). Julie wants to challenge you to capture a memory even if you don’t have a photo to go along with that memory and therefore wants you to create a “photoless page” this month. Here is a gorgeous sample that she created:
2. Scraplift Challenge – The Scraplift Challenge for October is hosted by Christa (cfile) and she has selected our guest Polly Sara’s (Tree City) Gallery to scraplift from this month. Simply go to Sara’s (Tree City) Gallery and select a page that you love and then create your own layout inspired by it. Christa chose this gorgeous page by Sara and then made a scraplifted version:
3. Inspiration Challenge – The Inspiration Challenge for this month is hosted by Natasha (bcnatty) and she would like you to scrap a layout inspired by someone who is near and dear to you. Natasha created this gem about her daughter who is 16 and is bravely living abroad in Italy for 10 months! I love this page!
4. Template Challenge – Heather (HeatherB), is hosting the Template Challenge for October. The challenge is to use the free template supplied by Mirjam of Pink Reptile Designs and create a layout using it. Here’s a look at the free template followed by a sample that Heather created:
5. Random Challenge – The Random Challenge for October is hosted by Lori (lcpereyra) and she is challenging you to put your journal card collection to use. Lori would like to see you create a layout with a journal card on it, but not in the traditional pocket card style, but rather incorporate one into a traditional style layout. Here’s a great example that she made:
6. Journaling Challenge – Ashley (ashleywb) is hosting the Journaling Challenge for October. Ashley wants to put a twist on word association this month and have you create a layout and then journal using word association. Rather than journaling the who, what, where and when, she is challenging you to journal the first thing that comes to mind when you think of your photo(s), the feelings, emotions, words or phrases. Here is a sample layout that Ashley created with journaling associated with her photo:
7. Photography Challenge – The Photography Challenge for October is hosted by Sara (Tree City), our fabulous guest polly. She would like to see you create a layout with a photo on it that has an obscured or obstructed view of the subject. Something where the photo wouldn’t normally be considered perfect, so the subject could be blurry or partially missing, but the subject shouldn’t be perfectly in focus. Sara created this fabulous page with her daughter obscured by being underwater:
8. BYOC Challenge – Finally we have the BYOC Challenge. This challenge will be hosted and posted by Jenn (jk703) Friday, October 5th, when the new BYOC collection for October will be released in the store. This challenge is to use 90% of the products on your page from the current BYOC collection and from at least 3 designers.
Challenge Galleries: (post your pages to these galleries)
There you have an at-a-glance overview of this month’s brand new batch of challenges. Once you create your own layouts inspired by these challenges, be sure to post them to the appropriate galleries as listed above. Then be sure to also post them to the appropriate thread in the challenge forum. See the thread HERE for further challenge guidelines and see the October Challenge Pad HERE to get started! Don’t forget to post all of your completed layouts in the Challenge Layouts thread so we can be sure to get you the proper coupon at the end of the month. I’ll be back near the end of the month to shine my spotlight on some of the pages created for these challenges! I can’t wait to see what you come up with! Happy scrapping!
