Make It Monday Ink Smooshing Card

Happy August! Polly Robin here with another Make It Monday blog post. Some days you just need to get your fingers inky so for today’s card, I pulled out my Distressed Oxide inks and did some ink smooshing!
I used both Tumbled Glass and Spun Sugar since they matched the MPM Hullabaloo kit perfectly. I put both colors on my glass mat and added some water. Then I ran my 4×5.25 in piece of watercolor paper through the ink and made this panel:

Please excuse the lines in the photo – my lightbox went crazy on me this week and I need to replace it! Anyhoooo….. ink smooshing is super easy and fun to do and makes the perfect background. You get the added bonus of seeing the colors together on your fingers for the rest of the day ????
While that panel was drying, I printed one of the journal cards and 3 bird elements from the Hullabaloo kit and then cut those out:

I love stacking elements on top of a journal card. It gives my card lots of dimension and really makes a digital journal card feel less like a digital product, and more of a hybrid product if that makes sense. After cutting everything out, I stacked the three birds together and then using foam tape, adhered them right over the bird on the journal card. I then layered the journal card on my inky background and matted it with some blue paper that I printed earlier from that same kit:

That’s it y’all! My card is done! It took longer for my ink to dry than it did to assemble the card ????
I hope you like my niece’s birthday card, and I appreciate you reading to see how this card was made. See you next time!
