Make It Monday Birthday Card

Hello all!  Polly Robin here with another birthday card I thought I’d share with you.  I needed to make a card for my niece.  She is all about the color pink and loves fancy cakes, so I knew the kit Eat Cake by Valorie Wibbens would be a perfect choice!

I created a mockup of what I wanted in Photoshop and came up with this design:

I printed out my patterned paper and cut out 5 rectangles from black and white cardstock as well as the pink birthday cake paper.  I used the following measurements as shown here:

Next, I used my Scan N Cut cutting machine to cut out the sentiment and the birthday cake itself.  You’ll notice that I cut out two extra cake shapes in addition to the actual element so that I could stack them behind my cake.  Stacking is the best way to get even dimension and doesn’t get smooshed in the mail!

After this, it was easy to just assemble my card.  I did add a tiny bit of bling and some foam tape behind the cake panel just to add some interest, but overall, my card is simple and more importantly, finished!

Thanks for checking out my process and I hope this card inspires you to make one as well.
