It’s National Pet Week!!!
Hey there! Did you know it’s National Pet Week?! It’s Katrina aka katrinahunt13 here on the blog today to share a little about my “other” pet that you haven’t seen yet. We all know a bout the dogs, so he needs to shine in the spotlight a little. And I am going to give you a few tips on photographing him!
Confession time, I was going to do a hybrid layout about him, but while trying to do it, I had all sorts of computer/printer/Silhouette issues, so I am just going to share a few pictures of him.
Meet Bob the Betta Fish. There are 14 different kinds of betta fish and I believe he is a Delta or a Half Moon. I had no idea how many kinds there were when I bought him. They have to live a solitary life, as they will fight with other fish. That does not mean they are not social. He loves it when you come up to the tank and talk to him or run your finger along the side. I have a two gallon fish bowl that he hangs out in.

When I first brought him home, after about a week I discovered the following and had to take a picture!

That is what is known as a bubble nest. The male creates it, trying to entice the female to mate. The eggs go up in the nest and the male takes care of them. Or as I like to say, he was REALLY happy! He has done it a couple of times, but not recently. I have had him about 3 years now and their life span is 3 to 5, so he is definitely an older fish.
Now, getting pictures of fish isn’t easy! LOL But if you can create a white background behind the tank, it will work perfectly. I just used a piece of white foam core that I use to take my project pictures with and placed it behind the tank. No flash is key, unless you are bouncing it off of something!

That leafy looking thing on the back of the tank is a betta hammock! Now, it might just be a gimmick, but he loved to lay on it! The suction cup has since lost it’s hold, and i haven’t gotten a replacement, but I have a few plants that he will rest in.

So what pets do you have and have you scrapped ALL of them? I know these pictures are getting scrapped as soon as I can get the darn printer to work! Or maybe I will do a digital page! Have a great week!!
