Hello scrappers! I’m back with part two of the DIY washi tape series! Lets review quickly the three ways I will be displaying how to make your washi tape.
- Using Avery labels
- Using sticker paper
- Using digital washi tape on sticker paper
If you missed part 1 or 2 be sure and click on the links above to go back and learn more ways to make your own washi tape. Today we are going to learn about using digital washi tape on sticker paper. This is my favorite way to make hybrid washi tape because I make the exact amount of washi tape I need with absolutely no leftovers. It also is very simple to make this washi tape. Let me show you how!
1. Open up a 8.5″ x 11″ blank document in Photoshop.
2. Open up several of your favorite digi washi tape and resize them. This is done so your hybrid washi tape will be the same size as traditional washi tape. I resized my pieces of tape to be .5″ tall. I used washi tape from DigiTapes vol. 9 -Travel by Jacque Larsen.
3. Drag and drop your washi tape on to your blank document. I used two tapes and made sure to place them at the top of my document so I wouldn’t waste any sticker paper.
4. Print your document on clear sticker paper. This can typically be found at your local craft store. Make sure your get the clear sticker paper. I accidentally bought white once and the “faux” look of washi tape was lost. Also, make sure and print on your best ink setting. This guarantees vibrant colored washi. After your document has printed you can cut off your washi tape from your sticker paper, and use the paper for another project. I usually get several projects out of one sheet of sticker paper. Here is my document coming out of the printer showing where to cut your paper.
5. Next using a paper trimmer or scissor cut out your strips of washi tape. Peel your “washi tape” off its backing and use for a project!
I used my DIY washi tape to create a welcome home card. Jacque’s travel tape worked so well for this card! I really loved the fact that when I was done using the washi tape I didn’t have to find a place to store leftover tape bits. I had just the right amount for my card with absolutely no waste.
I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial and found it useful! If you create something with your DYI washi tape, be sure and share with us! We love to see your creations in TLP gallery!
