Handmade Cards

Hey all! Polly Shannon here. I don’t know about you but I love the look of handmade cards. It adds a little something extra when you’re giving it to someone – like a gift in and of itself. But I always run into one problem when I am making a card with traditional paper supplies….my card is too bulky to mail. I really like my cards to have a little dimension so I had to find a way to make the card mail-friendly and still have the appearance of being able to reach out and touch it.

This card is completely flat, ready to pop in an envelope and into the mail without worry about extra postage.

The better part? It’s so easy to make! In Photoshop I created a canvas that was 4.5″ x 6″. My card is 5″ x 6.5″ and I wanted a quarter inch border all the way around. Then I used How It Began papers & elements by One Little Bird to design the card. I was free to add any kid of elements I wanted without the worry of bulk! After I had the card designed I flattened the image and saved it as a .jpg at the maximum quality. Then I simply printed (I like to print on presentation paper), trimmed the excess paper, and adhered it to my card. Easy peasy!

What do you think? Are you going to give it a try? I hope to see some cards popping up in the gallery!
