Here's my username story! Microsoft word tells me this is 202 words. Journaling is in the gallery credits. My username by klee73010 posted Jan 29, 2018 at 7:19 PM
I don't often write much about myself in my scrapbooks. They usually are devoted to my family. One day, someone will want to read it. So I'm grateful you challenged me.
here is my entry to a fun challenge. catching up on the ones i missed by starting late journaling reads Hi my name is Traci, I like to scrap…. there really isn’t a whole lot of creativity to my username. SCRAPTRACI This is the name I go by in the digital world. I think to people around Lilypad and other scrapping sites it is self- explanatory. This is basically the name I thought of when I started out in the online world and I’ve used it everywhere since. I have an email account to go with it as well. I use that email for all my digi scrapping but also for a lot of shopping sites as well. Basically I use it where I don’t want to convey my last name. The only really interesting part is why my name is spelled the way it is. My dad has always teased me that he left the “e” of my birth certificate. My mom is Canadian and females are usually I or IE and men are Y or EY. I have an uncle named Tracy, hence I was named a less conventional spelling for the US. I didn’t know anyone with my spelling until I was in college. I do see it much more frequently now. So if you see Scraptraci around in the digital world give me a wave, chances are it’s me.
Since my username is the same as my actual name, I chose to journal about why my parents named me what they did. Journaling word count: 406
No nickname, nothing special about my username (it's just my name with an add-on because my name alone was already taken!) so I went with the meaning of my name and my relationship with it! I hope it's ok!

Journaling: I graduated from college in 1997. I’d had internet access free at school, and when I moved down to DC getting back online was one of the first things I did. Computers were a lot more basic in 1997. One of the limitations had to do with naming. I don’t know the technical reasons why, but in some versions of Windows, file names were limited to 8 characters. That carried over to early online forums. I signed up for internet access with AOL in May of 1997, then I registered in some plastic canvas forums. Similar to finding an un-claimed gmail address today, finding an available 8-character sequence you could claim as your own took a lot of trial and error. I ended up with rach, short for Rachel, the number 3 (which may have been a random choice or had a meaning I’ve since forgotten), and then 97 for the year and 5 for the month. It became habit to use rach3975 as a forum username. Here I am, 20 years later, still known as rach3975 on digiscrapping sites!
