My username is Kat. It’s a simple username and to the point. It’s my nickname but it’s also my initials. It has been my nickname for a long time. When I met my husband, we knew early on that we had something different. The topic of marriage came up and my husband said one day… “hey, if we get married, your initials will be K-A-T… Kat”… he called my by that name every now and then. At family get togethers, there was me, Kerrie Anne, and my husband’s cousin, Kerry Brooke. They had trouble with us both having the same name and tried using our full names. My husband mentioned the nickname and it became something I was called in his family. The other Kerry was called KB for short. KB committed suicide a couple years ago so sadly the need for nicknames at family gatherings is gone, but I’m still referred to as Kat. After a while, it caught on and became my email and username in the scrap community. It’s also my “online” presence name. Many people who don’t know me in real life have no idea that my real name is actually Kerrie. You’d think with a nickname like Kat that I’d be a cat person. Ironically, while I love cats… I’m more of a dog person. I do love cats as well. We owned 5 at one point but we don’t have any now. I also worked at a cat clinic for several years. So now, most people know me as Kat outside of my family and close friends and I answer to both names.
