Super Easy Super Hero Birthday Party Decor
Hello pad peeps! Today I want to share with you some super easy to create birthday party decor. So simple in fact that my 9 year old son was able to help create some of the birthday party decor. I’ll start by saying that my son is kind of obsessed with legos, especially Lego Marvel, but really anything lego makes him a happy camper. With that in mind, it didn’t take long to decide to host his birthday party at a lego play place near where we live. Now we had the location picked out and that was easy, figuring out a date is always an adventure in itself. I knew I wanted to customize the party decor, since there aren’t a lot of options out there specifically for lego hero party themes. I was delighted to stumble upon Super Duper from Kate Hadfield. You might recall seeing some super hero party decor during May’s episode of the Hybrid Variety Show. It was a challenge to keep the table decorations out of my son’s hands while we awaited his birthday. The cupcake toppers were so fun to make. I created a 2 inch circle in Photoshop and duplicated it enough times to fill an 8.5×11 sheet of paper. Then my son sat down next to me and I walked him through the steps of opening an image and resizing it in Photoshop. He sat and patiently went through every image in the Super Duper kit, carefully choosing, then placing items that he liked until all of the circles were filled. He was happy to be a part of the process. I saved the file as a png and then opened in the Silhouette software. Once the file was in place I used the trace tool to trace around the outside of the circles, turned on the registration marks, then print the file. Once the file was printed, I placed it in the Silhouette and cut the circles. Finally, my son helped glue the printed circles on top of larger solid pieces of cardstock. We glued plastic food picks to each circle and they were ready to place on the cupcakes. Next, we created capes for the water bottles. Every hero should have a cape! Okay, maybe it’s not a necessity, but I am sure you will agree it is a fabulous birthday party decor accessory! I found an image of a cape online and resized it in Photoshop. I opened the file in the Silhouette software and duplicated it enough times to fill a 12×12 inch area (the standard size of scrapbook cardstock). I finished by using the trace tool to cut out the capes. I also created the table sign using an artsy image that I created in Photoshop. I printed the image and placed it in an 8×10 frame. It doesn’t get easier than that! Here is a final peek at the whole spread. The party was a hit and my son proclaims this day the BEST DAY EVER! All in all, I would say it was a win! Thanks for visiting! We hope you are inspired to create something fun today!
