Autumn Mixed Media Project

October 30, 2015 by The Lilypad 7 Comments

Hello! Hello! Trista here! Today I am sharing a peek into a new mixed media project that I have started. rolodexheader There is something wonder”fall” from our new resident designer, Nancie Rowe Janitz. The Autumnal Garden is a set of fall inspired printables. These printables are little nuggets of Nancie’s brilliant artistry and I cannot get enough of them. Keep reading to see a fun new way to use these printables.     nrj-sastarts-19-autumnalgarden It all started at a yard sale. While shopping at a local yard sale, I came across a dusty old Rolodex. It was full of blank cards and worn tabs. It was unused and unloved. Suddenly I was inspired! I saw a box filled with tiny blank canvases. My body tingled with excitement as I grabbed the little box of artsy potential. I was not really sure what I wanted to do with it. The sticker showed $1.00 so I had to have it! Once I got the box home I wiped the dust off and cleaned the surface really well. Then I tapes off the bottom half of the box and painted the top gold. Everybody loves a little bling and the sparkly gold was the perfect touch.

I’ve been addling little quotes and other bits of inspiration to the little golden box over the past few months. When I saw Nancie’s new Autumnal Garden Scrap Starts, I had to have them in my art box. I resized them to the Rolodex card size and printed several of them to decorate. I added some fun fall inspired quotes to some of the cards before printing.

Here you can see them all laid out before I placed them in the Rolodex.

I put the pumpkin card in the front. It isn’t decorated yet. I like looking at this card as it is.

The next few cards to follow have been embellished with ribbons, fibers, lace, as well as other things like paper flowers, enamel dots and rhinestones.

The cards with Quotes are my favorite! Quotes are a great inspiration.

Thanks for stopping by the blog! We hope that you are inspired to create something that makes you happy!
