Hi all, Sarah here. I’ve been thinking a lot about documenting my past stories. I was a child of the 80s so a mini album about those memories seemed like a great place to start.
Real Life in Pockets – Old School by Just Jaimee and Mommyish is just perfect for this project.
I began by creating an 8″x10″ canvas and placing two papers side by side (each paper measuring 4″x10″) on the canvas and then printing. I did the same thing with two different papers and printed on the back side of the previously printed paper. I then cut each two sided piece into 3.5″x7.5″ sections. I repeated the process once more with four different papers.
A side above – B side below. I made the printouts slightly larger than the final size that I needed to make sure that if for some reason my print was a little off I’d still be able to line the two sides up perfectly.
I then folded a 2″ section up from the bottom of each paper to create a pocket.
I used washi tape to bind my album. I began by taping around each paper to make sure that each pocket page was completely sealed up. Next I took two pockets and taped along the spine with the pockets facing each other. I did the same with the other two pockets and then finally took the two sets of pockets and taped the two together along the spine as well. This was a great excuse to use up some of the washi tape stash I’ve been collecting over the past couple of years.
I printed journal cards to slide into the pockets as well as one for the cover and another for one of the center pages. I also print and cut a few of the embellishments from the collection using my Silhouette.
These two pockets I will use to record some of my favorite music and movies from the decade.
I used a few of the word strips from the kit to decorate the center pages with some of my favorite song lyrics and movie quotes.
The last two pockets will be used to record memories about games and television.
I’m so happy with the way this album turned out. I can’t wait to use it to document a few of my favorite memories from the 80s!
