Hi all, Sarah here. Remember my Advent Calendar that I posted about in December? I’m so happy to share with you what I’ve done with that area of my house since then.
When I took down all of the advent envelopes after Christmas I left the hooks and clips where they were. I had spent some time putting them up (measuring and hanging 6 rows of 4 hooks) and I decided I wanted them to stay up so I could enjoy this space for a little bit longer.
The idea I came up with to fill up this space was to print off twelve 3″x4″ journal cards from the Memory Pockets Monthly Folio kit and add ons. Once I had them printed and trimmed I placed them in a checkerboard pattern using the clips.
Next I went through all of the January photos on my hard drive and printed off twelve photos that I resized to 3″x4″. Of course, the most fun part about this project was perusing through years of photos. The photos I chose to print aren’t necessarily the best photos that I took over the years..in fact quite a few of these photos had major issues but these were the twelve photos that made me happiest to look at, and I decided these were the photos that I wanted to look at for the next thirty one days.
There are lots of options for 3″x4″ cards with the Memory Pockets Monthly products but I still had fun making some changes to a couple of them. I love this Snapshots of Everyday Life card but since the original card read two thousand fifteen I made a copy of the card and cropped it so that there was just a piece of the background left large enough to cover the words on the original card. This card was originally a 4″x6″ card, so I resized it down to 3″ wide and then cropped the top and bottom so that it measured 4″ tall. The Hello January card was a 4″x4″ card that I cropped an inch off the left and made it 3″x4″ card. I love how well this card works as a sort of title card for my little wall of 3″x4″ art.
My hope it to do this every month and at the end of each month place the cards and photos into an album with pocket protectors so that I can continue to enjoy this for years to come. Looking at my wall of hooks and the photos and fun journal cards clipped to them makes me so happy. I’m already looking forward to this month’s Memory Pocket Monthly so that I can begin working on my February wall!
