Valentines Is Over, Now What?

Did your precious kiddos get a million Valentines from their friends and classmates?  I bet they did… at least that’s how it feels to us parents.  Now that Valentine’s is over, what are you going to do with all those sweet sentiments?  I’ve asked around and most moms say they trash them (myself included).  Like me, they also feel a slight twinge of guilt for doing so.  Many kids might not even really care, especially once they’ve devoured the candy that was most likely attached to it.  If you have a sentimental child like I do and the ridding of Valentines comes with tears and pleading, perhaps there is a solution.

I am not a Project Lifer.  This is simply because I do not have the time or motivation.  However, I am IN LOVE with the concept and wish I could convince my lazy butt to do it.  For those of you that are in involved with Project Life, why not stash some of those Valentines in it?  In fact, why not include a class photo along with them?  It’s opportunities like this that start giving me that extra push to jump on the bandwagon!  Wouldn’t it be awesome for them to be able to look back at it many years from now and reconnect with feelings, faces, and names?  They don’t need to take up a lot of room… just stuff them into one of these..

Now, for those of you who are like me and still haven’t taken the plunge into PL but are looking to end the battle with your pack rat, I have another idea…one that is on my list of things to do this weekend… I swear.   Let’s take those valentines and scan them!  If your child simply has TOO many, ask them to pick out their favorites.  Tape the selection onto a piece of paper, scan them, and then open the image up in your favorite program.  I am going to use some of Valorie Wibben’s Pockets and templates to scrap them all… and boy does she have a lot of great ones!!

There are more of these cuties in the store… just type in POCKETS in the search area!  🙂

So there you have it… hope it serves as a good compromise between you and your little memory maker!
