Using Instagram Collections for Scrapbook Inspiration

March 28, 2018 by The Lilypad 1 Comment

Hi scrappy friends!!

It’s Polly Monica here to talk to you a little about how you can use a fun feature on Instagram for scrapbook inspiration.

First of all, I have to tell you that I am a huge Instagram fan and user!

I follow many scrapbook accounts, including The Lilypad, for scrapbook inspiration. I love opening Instagram and seeing all the beautiful layouts, scrap rooms, inspirational words and even personal tidbits from the accounts that I follow.

When I’m stuck for an idea on getting started on a layout, I often to go my saved collections in Instagram for inspiration, whether it be for a sketch to follow, a layout to lift, or words to include in a title or journaling.

Today I want to show you how you can take advantage of the Collections feature in Instagram to organize the inspiration you find there!

Below each image shared on Instagram are several symbols. On the left is the heart for liking the image, a talk bubble for comments, a paper airplane symbol for sharing/sending the image to others. In the middle are dots if there are multiple images in one instagram post. And then on the right is the bookmark symbol.

This bookmark symbol is what you use to save images to collections.

Here’s a look at all of my saved images…there’s a little bit of everything here!

When you come across an image that you want to save for later inspiration, you simply click on this bookmark! Instagram will save everything in one big collection and from there you can create “Collection Boards”, much like pinterest boards to organize all of your saved collections.

Here’s a look at the images in my Scrapbook Inspiration Collection Board. Looking at these makes my heart happy!

Currently, I have a board for Inspirational Words, Sketches, Scrapbook Inspiration, and Organizing. There’s no limit to the number of boards you create! And you can use this for all kinds of things that you’re inspired for and want to save…think recipes, outfit ideas, crafts, books…I could just go on and on!

To get to your collections in Instagram, click on your profile photo in the bottom right hand corner, then click on the bookmark symbol which is the third symbol from the right on the top. From there you can click on the plus sign (+) in the top right hand corner to create collection boards.

There are so many ways to find inspiration for scrapbooking! I hope this motivates you to use Instagram collections as a tool to do just that! And make sure you’re following The Lilypad on Instagram. There’s lots of inspiration there!!
