Hi guys!! It’s Monica here to talk to you about a really easy, super simple way to track credits for your layouts.
I used to track credits using Evernote (you can read about that here), but this program began working wonky for me after its last update. I ended up super frustrated every time I tried following this method and began looking for a new way to do things.
This new method is one that you may already be familiar with, but I’ve found that sometimes the super simple get overlooked and some of you may not know of this.
Basically, I write the products I used in my layout inside the file information and include links to each product there as well. In doing this, the credits listed live in the file’s metadata and can be transferred when the layout is saved for print and for web sharing as well.
After completing each layout, I look over in the layers palate to make sure I get each product used listed in the “description” area of the file info. To do this, click on File>File Info. Then go down to the “Description” area and type in the name and designer of each product. Under this I also include the link address for the product. When this is complete, click on “OK”.
Now when you are ready to save the layout for web, make sue you have “All” selected on Metadata so that this information is carried over when it is saved for web sharing.
When you upload this web-sized layout to many sites, the credits are automatically imported. This works for me when uploading to Flickr and my personal blog.
For any site that does not import the credits from the file info, I simply pull up this information from Bridge (the application I use for managing my layouts and digi-supplies). To do that, I right click on the layout and select “file info” to bring up this information. Then I can copy and paste from the description. This should also work with ACDSee if you use that to view/manage your layouts.
I hope this helps if you’re looking for an easier way to keep track of the credits for your layouts!! I’d love to hear if you already use this method and if not, what you’re doing to track your credits.
Happy Scrapping!!

Awesome tutorial Monica. I always hear people talking about doing this but never fully figured it out. It’s the Bridge part (being able to see the data entered into the Description area) and the save All that were missing for me. Thank you for sharing this tip!
