What’s Hot? Angle and Tilt

Welcome to the very first blog edition of “So Hot  It’s Cool”. (Okay I totally made that up just now. So if it’s not the title next month… well you know, LOL.)

So go on… ask me…Claire, what’s hot and trendy right now?

TILTING YOUR LAYOUT ON AN ANGLE

Yup.  I’m seeing it all over the galleries and it looks COOOOL.  That angle makes a layout just pop out of the gallery!

Are you scared yet?  I have to admit, my brain doesn’t really work in an angle.  But no need to fear!!  See there are lots of ways to get this creative and clever look. You can try tilting everything like Kelleanne did in When:

Or tilting almost everything.  Heather tilted it all except the picture in her layout  Tel aviv:

I love how the picture really stands out since it is the only thing not at an angle.

You can try tilting to the left…or to the right like Crystal did with her layout Fall:

The other clever thing about Crystal’s is that she did it fast.  Yup she took a template and just sort of tilted it up near the top.  Easy peasy.

So now that you’ve been inspired…it’s your turn to go for the tilt!

I’m a creative who pulls inspiration from all corners of life—both the joyful highs and the real-life moments that punch you in the gut. Honestly, I don’t think I can pin down a single scrapbooking style for myself, so let’s just go with eclectic. My layouts really depend on my mindset. If I’m in a deep, cerebral mood, you’ll likely see something chaotic and messy. If I’m more relaxed, it tends to come out clean, simple, and structured.

My brain is usually running on several channels at once, so it’s completely normal for me to be working on a digital layout, dabbling in a hybrid project, and getting messy with art journaling or mixed media—all at the same time.

Here are a few of my go-to tools: Digital: Adobe Photoshop CC + my MacBook; Photos: Canon Rebel or iPhone; Hybrid: Cricut Joy + sewing machine; Art Journaling: watercolors, stencils, and artsticks

And when it comes to embellishments—digital or physical—I’m always reaching for messy threads, ribbons, and Polaroids. Always the Polaroids.
